LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the late-night talk show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ addressed the recent shooting in Minneapolis and backed Mayor Jacob Frey during an episode that aired on Wednesday, January 7.
In the middle of the episode, Kimmel pulled out an emblazoned T-shirt that read “ICE get the f**k out of MPLS,” as a clip of Frey played soon after, urging ICE agents to leave his state after the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good.
Jimmy Kimmel mocks Trump with a T-shirt
During the segment, before Kimmel pulled out a T-shirt with Jacob Frey’s words emblazoned on it and addressed the Trump administration’s decision to strike Venezuela as well as its push to acquire Greenland.
Jimmy Kimmel said that Donald Trump was going to kill everyone and joked that he won’t stop killing people until he won a Nobel Prize. The talk show host pulled up a T-shirt with a slogan aimed at the president.
“Donald J Trump is gonna kill you,” the T-shirt read.
As he called Trump a “maniac,” Kimmel addressed ICE agents fatally shooting Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. He claimed that Trump’s alleged killing spree wasn’t limited to other nations and people overseas.
“An ICE agent today shot and killed an unarmed 37-year-old woman during an ICE operation,” Kimmel explained.
He said that the administration disguised the attack as an act of protection, noting that the official statement said that the ICE agents shot at Good in self-defence.
Kimmel addressed Trump’s recent social media post about the same, and said that he had also seen the video in question. He dismissed the president’s claims that Good ran over the ICE officer, noting that it didn’t seem like that to him.
Kimmel said that it seemed to him that Good had gotten scared and tried to drive away when she was shot.
He stated that the court would have the final say in the matter, before he played a clip of Mayor Jacob Frey telling ICE to get out of Minneapolis during a recent press conference.
He said that the administration’s claims of self-defence were “bulls**t” and criticized the agent's recklessness that resulted in Good losing her life.
Trump chimes in on Renee Nicole Good’s death
The president took to Truth Social soon after the shooting and said that it was “hard to watch.” He referred to Renee Nicole Good as a “screaming woman,” and added that she was a “professional agitator.”
“The woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting,” Trump wrote.
The president further stated that she was violent, willful, and “viciously” ran over the ICE agent, who shot her in self-defence.
