LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jimmy Kimmel made headlines after his 7-year-old son William 'Billy' John underwent his third open-heart surgery. The late-night host has now shared an update about his son's health.

Kimmel's son Billy who he shares with his wife Molly McNearney was born in 2017 with congenital heart disease. On May 27, Kimmel shared a photo on Instagram showing Billy smiling in a hospital bed, revealing that he had undergone the surgery.

The 56-year-old host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! provided an update on Billy's health post-surgery in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight "Billy's doing great. He had open-heart surgery; you know he's got the scars and everything, but he's just mentally right back where he was which is crazy."

Kimmel acknowledged they need to be cautious for a few months in caring for Billy, "physically, you know, we're gonna have to be careful with him for a couple of months, but he's doing really well."

Reflecting on children's resilience, Kimmel said, "They're made of rubber, you know, everybody says that kids are so resilient and the doctors actually explained it to me which I don't know why it never occurred to me before because they're still growing."
