WASHINGTON, DC: A newly resurfaced video of former President Joe Biden has left viewers doing a double-take. The footage shows Biden alongside Barack Obama during his vice‑presidential years.

It reveals a version of the former president that many say is almost unrecognizable now.

Joe Biden's energetic past contrasts with his present health concerns

In the rare throwback clip, Biden is alert, spry and upbeat in his interactions with former President Obama as lawmakers celebrate the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010.

He is seen cheering, slapping Obama on the back and wearing a broad grin.

The video contrasts starkly with images of Biden today, as critics point to an ageing physique and diminished appearance. Biden’s healthy earlier demeanor has been cited as a sharp departure from recent years.

Critics have underscored concerns about Biden’s health and capacity, with recent footage showing him slowly entering a restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, surrounded by Secret Service agents.

Biden was diagnosed with cancer later this year that has metastasized to his bones, and a noticeable scar from surgery to remove skin‑cancer lesions above his right eye remains visible.

As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer in October, Biden underwent radiation therapy and hormone treatment.

The radiation treatment is expected to continue for five weeks, and he has already been taking a pill form of hormone medication.

His reduced public appearances, limited staffing, and decision to remain at home in Delaware further highlight the changes in his post‑presidency routine.

Internet reacts to Joe Biden’s throwback appearance

Observers online commented on his reflexes and appearance, and some speculated about his medical condition.

One online commentator remarked on the striking difference, saying, "Before Biden’s body double."

Another social media observer expressed disbelief at how much Biden has changed "That’s not the Joe Biden we all saw as president."

One netizen humorously reflected on Biden’s past appearance, "Oh the first Joe Biden was there. Think the replacement remembers this!? lol."

An X user also stressed the dramatic change over time, "Man, Joe Biden looks almost unrecognizable now compared to back then. I know it’s been 15 years, but it’s still crazy to see him here."

One user focused on Biden’s physical features: "Joe Biden has a different forehead than he does now.🤔"

Finally, pointing out to Biden’s presence in the video, a user said with enthusiasm, "Look! The real Joe Biden!"
