WASHINGTON, DC: During his pivotal ABC News interview on Friday, July 5, a bronzed Joe Biden made an odd claim about inventing a computer chip.

The 81-year-old incumbent often answered questions in a raspy, tired voice, frequently losing his train of thought mid-sentence and sometimes disregarding questions while attempting to make sporadic extravagant claims about his past achievements.

At one point in the interview, Biden told George Stephanopoulos, "We used to have 40 percent of computer chips. We invented the chip, the little chip, the computer chip. It's in everything from cell phones to weapons."

The uncut, 22-minute interview conducted by Stephanopoulos faced intense scrutiny by Democrats worried about the president's capacity to serve another term or defeat Donald Trump, who is 78, in the upcoming general election, especially after a shaky debate performance on June 27.

Biden was questioned on his feelings about the possibility of Trump defeating him, particularly if it were to hinge on their initial debate performance.

"I'll feel, as long as I gave it my all, and I did as goodest job as I know I can do, that's what this is about," said the POTUS.

After the eagerly awaited interview, which was viewed as a crucial assessment of his suitability for office, ABC News' Jonathan Karl reported that only a staunch ally of the president could utter "wow" in reaction to that statement.

President Joe Biden declares himself the 'most qualified' individual to lead Democrats against Donald Trump

When asked how he could reverse the course of the race, Biden contended that a crucial factor would be hosting large and dynamic rallies, such as the one he conducted in Wisconsin on Friday, as per Daily Mail.

Confronted with the fact that Trump often attracts bigger crowds, the president sharply criticized his adversary.

"Trump is a pathological lair," said Biden, accusing the presumptive GOP presidential nominee of mishandling the federal response to the Covid-19 pandemic and not succeeding in creating enough jobs.

The incumbent asked, "You ever see something that Trump did that benefited someone else and not him?"

Biden maintained that he is the "most qualified" individual to lead Democrats against Trump. He also characterized his performance last week as a "bad episode," asserting there were "no indications" of any serious condition.

''I was feeling terrible," remarked the POTUS, his voice hoarse and occasionally faltering, adding, "Matter of fact the docs with me. I asked if they did a COVID test because they were trying to figure out what was wrong."

He went on to say, "They did a test to see whether or not I had some infection, you know, a virus. I didn't. I just had a really bad cold. I didn't listen to my instincts in terms of preparing."

Despite Biden's strenuous attempts to recover from his debate performance, they have not yet alleviated internal party discontent. An influential Democratic senator is reportedly spearheading an emerging campaign to persuade the president to withdraw from the race.

Moreover, Democrats are discreetly discussing their next steps if the president were to withdraw as well as the implications of his continued participation in the race.

Internet reacts as President Joe Biden takes credit for inventing computer chips during ABC News interview

Netizens were quick to trash Biden over the claims he made during the ABC News interview, with many taking it as a sign of mental decline.

One wrote, "C'mon Sleepy Joe, you're not fooling anyone," and another added, "The more he tries to convince the more nails in his coffin."

"Well his is faulty," joked a person, while someone else expressed, "The actual scandal is that there is nobody to protect this ill elderly man who deserves decency, as everybody. the world deserves an able president to the US."

"Obama and all the other democrats should be utterly ashamed of this terrible abuse of an old man with serious cognitive decline. But their purpose is to wreck America and it’s working. Shame on them all," remarked an individual.
