NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden reportedly used a teleprompter at a fundraiser in East Hampton, according to Anthony 'The Mooch' Scaramucci, Trump's former aide.

Scaramucci, who has been critical of Biden's debate performance against Donald Trump, praised Biden's vigor at the event.

Anthony Scaramucci's take on Joe Biden's performance

"I went to President Biden‘s fundraiser in East Hampton and I thought he did quite well reading the teleprompter today and meeting with people," Scaramucci posted on X. Despite this, Scaramucci noted, “However, that is not going to be enough to prove to the American people that he’s up for another 4 years.”

Scaramucci relayed advice from hedge funder Whitney Tilson, stressing the need for Biden to appear more frequently in unscripted settings. He proposed that Biden should hold weekly press conferences, give an interview on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” sit with The New York Times editorial board, and participate in a late-night show.

Scaramucci concluded, “This can all be done in the next week – there is no time to waste.”

Biden's campaign has been criticized for his limited number of solo press conferences. Data from the American Presidency Project shows that Biden has held fewer solo press conferences than any recent president. The New York Times editorial board, in light of Biden’s debate performance, called for him to drop out of the race.

Joe Biden's debate performance raises  concerns about his fitness

During his first presidential debate with Trump on Thursday, Biden appeared to struggle, often mumbling, staring blankly, and losing his train of thought. The disastrous performance intensified concerns about his fitness for office.

Scaramucci, who now supports Biden, acknowledged the poor performance, stating, “That was brutal. President Biden lost the debate. It could cost him the election. They have to switch up their strategy immediately.”

Michael LaRosa, a former spokesman for First Lady Jill Biden, echoed Scaramucci's concerns, tweeting, “@Scaramucci you’re [100%] correct. I’ve been saying this exact same thing for a year but they TRULY do not want to listen to anybody else. But I’m glad you are speaking out about what you observed.”

LaRosa has criticized Biden's communications team for overly scripted and choreographed appearances, the New York Post reported.

Before the debate, some Democrats were optimistic about Biden's performance, citing his energetic State of the Union address in March, which was also delivered using a teleprompter.

However, post-debate, Biden acknowledged his shortcomings, saying in Raleigh, NC, “I don’t debate as well as I used to.” He affirmed, “I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done,” and contrasted himself with Trump, stating, “Donald Trump will destroy our democracy. I will defend it.”

Joe Biden trolled on social media

Joe Biden's use of a teleprompter at the East Hampton fundraiser - coupled with Scaramucci's take - drew a wave of mockery on social media.

"A teleprompter at a fundraiser tells you all you need to know," one posted on X.

"Joe can’t do any of that, and you know it," another wrote, responding to Scaramucci's advice.

"Or he could do the right thing, and step aside," a comment read.

"Biden uses a teleprompter at a fundraiser? Why can’t the liberals just admit they were wrong and move forward from this disaster," someone else offered.

"How did the bar get so low for this great country," another lamented.
