Joe Jonas still harbors 'huge grudge' against ex-wife Sophie Turner, claims source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner finalized their divorce this September, reaching a mutually beneficial child custody arrangement for their two daughters, Delphine, two, and Willa, four.
While their acrimonious legal dispute is over, the once-dynamic pair appears to find it hard to put their past animosities behind them, as a source exclusively shared with Life and Style Magazine.
Joe Jonas hasn't 'truly forgiven' Sophie Turner and continues to hold a 'huge grudge'
Joe Jonas filed for divorce from Sophie Turner in September 2023, citing that their marriage was "irretrievably broken." The musician also requested joint custody of their two daughters.
According to court documents, Turner then claimed that Jonas was preventing their children from traveling to the United Kingdom and was refusing to give them their passports. However, a judge's decision ultimately resulted in the children returning to New York City.
Both have since moved on, but because of how vicious their feud was, they still feel uncomfortable bumping into each other occasionally, which the source claimed is inevitable in Hollywood.
According to the insider, their current relationship is "extremely awkward" because "a lot of their social networks overlap and they still have shared friends."
"The celebrity cool kids crowd is very small, so it’s not as though Joe can expect people to take his side and ice Sophie out," added the source.
Another aspect of the issue is the 'Game of Thrones' star's intense romance with British aristocrat Peregrine Pearson. "Now that she’s dating Perry [Pearson], Joe’s got even more reason to stay on her good side," the source revealed.
They further claimed, "He loves hanging out at the Chiltern Firehouse in London, which is really Sophie and Perry’s territory, and other private members clubs, so it’s not going to serve him well to keep the bad blood going."
The source added that Pearson is reportedly a very protective person, and Jonas would likely lose a fight if he didn't think about it. "So he’s very wisely being a lot more cordial with Sophie and has stopped trash-talking her," they remarked.
The tipster concluded by saying, "But that doesn’t mean he’s truly forgiven her, he’s still holding a huge grudge and so is she. Most of the time they use their nannies to do the kids’ drop-offs, but there are times they see each other and it's beyond uncomfortable."
Sophie Turner reflects on 'incredibly sad' divorce from Joe Jonas
The 28-year-old 'Game of Thrones' alum and the 35-year-old former Disney star became friends through mutual friends and initially got romantically involved at a Halloween party in 2016. They went Instagram official in 2017.
The couple was engaged for almost a year and a half before getting married in May 2019. Turner gave birth to their first daughter, Willa, in July 2020, and they welcomed Delphine in July 2022.
After going through a "rough patch" in 2023, the couple's relationship continued to deteriorate, resulting in divorce.
When asked about the divorce during an interview with Harper's Bazaar, published in October, Turner said, "I’m going through a legal process right now where I can’t really say much, but it was incredibly sad. We had a beautiful relationship, and it was hard."
Talking about being back in the UK, she said, "I’m so happy to be back. It felt as if my life was on pause until I returned to England. I just never really feel like myself when I’m not in London, with my friends and family."
She further shared, "I was away for so long – six years – and it was when my friends were getting engaged, and when I got pregnant."
When asked about her romance with Pearson, the 'Joan' actress said, "We’re very happy. It came around very quickly. I just needed to go on a date to know how to do it again. That was the first date and the last date, and it’s been great."
"He’s lovely. He’s funny, and he brings out the cheeky side of me, the fun side. He lights me back up," she added.
Speaking of their growing romance, an insider told Us Weekly in January, "Of course, the physical attraction is there, but Perry treats Sophie with nothing, but respect and he makes her laugh, which is also so important to her."
They added that the mother of two "never expected to find someone she cares about this quickly."
