WASHINGTON, DC: John Fetterman, one of Joe Biden’s staunch supporters, has once again insisted that the POTUS should have run against Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

He claimed Biden “would have beaten” Trump, as reported by The Independent.

Fetterman was among many Democrats who felt Biden should not have backed out from the 2024 race after his disastrous performance at the June 27 presidential debate against Trump.

John Fetterman still believes Joe Biden would have easily won 2024 election

After the presidential debate against Donald Trump on June 27, 2024, there were calls from within the Democratic party for Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. Concerns were raised about his mental acuity and his ability to lead the country for a second term.

Finally, Biden announced the decision to drop his reelection bid on July 21 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic presidential nominee.

The freshman senator from Pennsylvania elected in 2022, had reportedly said in July, just days before Biden announced his decision to leave the race, “That whole abandon Biden thing — that’s the dumbest s**t I’ve ever heard…”

“I mean, if you are more inclined to vote for a Democrat or be a Democrat, if you’re willing to walk away from Joe Biden — you’re by defecting helping Trump,” he asserted at the time.

Now on Sunday, September 8, Fetterman told Dana Bash on CNN’s ‘State of the Union’, “What I said was, I do believe, fundamentally, that Joe Biden would have beaten Trump. And it was going to be very close, and I have always predicted that as well too.”

“And now Harris. And she’s had an amazing run so far, and we're raising record, record amounts of money, and she's had an incredible all kinds of the last six weeks. But right now, it's here we are, and it's going to be close, and it comes down to that very same, very stark choice," the 55-year-old politician added.

John Fetterman also shared his opinion on the upcoming presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

He said, as per Fox News, “I also want to just say that it's going to be a straight-up debate. She's going to do great, of course, but Donald Trump will be good, too.”

“I mean, we can all remember he wrecked all of the Republicans. He's a good debater. But at the end of the day, I don't believe this debate's going to be definitive because it's going to come down to this choice, and it's going to be close,” he stated.

“I think a majority of Pennsylvanians are going to decide, ‘Hey, I want four years of order and fairness and unity and a different way forward.’ And I don't think they want the kinds of dark days and chaos that Donald Trump provided for our nation," the senator added.

“His 5 minutes is up. I admire people who prevail against greater odds than others. But sometimes, fools like Sinema and Fetterman don't have much else except succeeding despite.........” the third one mentioned.

An X user tweeted, “Festerman wearing his Sunday best hoodie for his State of the Union appearance.  And he wonders why no one takes him seriously as the junior Senator of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

The second user wrote, “Fetterman has a few brief moments of sanity. This is not one of them.”

“I was beginning to have a little hope for him, but now I don't,” the third one added.
