John Travolta’s daughter Ella reveals her 'Little Bird' song carries message for late mom Kelly Preston

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ella Bleu Travolta, daughter of John Travolta and the late Kelly Preston has released her debut extended play (EP), 'Colors of Love'.

In a recent interview, she shared how the process of creating music allowed her to honor and grieve her mother, who died in 2020 after a two-year battle with breast cancer.

She also said her EP's deeply personal nature was a way for her to connect with her mother in a new way.

Ella Bleu Travolta's 'Little Bird' expresses sentiments she had wanted to convey for many years

In an appearance on the 'Today' show on Friday, November 8, Ella Bleu Travolta spoke about her song 'Little Bird', which she described as a heartfelt message for her mother.

“It’s different for each person going through loss, but for me personally, it was just this pure message that I wanted to give to my mom,” she said, expressing her feelings about the song’s meaning.

She added it was "something that I had wanted to communicate and had been thinking about for many years."

Ella explained that despite the support around her, she found that grief could be a solitary experience.

“Even though there can be so much support from everyone, it can also sometimes get in the way of how you truly feel and how you want to communicate those last words to that person,” she added.

Ella shared that 'Little Bird' expressed sentiments she had wanted to convey for many years.

"This was sort of my message from a baby bird to a mama bird and also to yourself too because you will always know what's right," she said. 

Ella Bleu Travolta shares emotional memories with family home videos

Ella Bleu Travolta’s music video for 'Little Bird' includes home videos, many of which she had not seen before.

On Today, she revealed, “A lot of it I hadn't seen so it was really, really nostalgic and really beautiful,” describing how revisiting the footage moved her deeply, reported Hello! Magazine.



 

Ella noted, "There was a lot of crying, but they were happy tears. And I wanted it to be a celebration, too, of her life ‘cause it’s all those best, most happy moments. And that’s how I remember her.”

In a prior Instagram post, Ella described the song as “about a beautiful time in my life,” explaining that she spent two years considering what the song should embody, only for it to “be written overnight.”

John Travolta's influence on Ella Bleu Travolta’s music career

Ella Bleu Travolta also credited her father, John Travolta, for supporting her passion for music.

She said he is very protective due to his extensive experience in the entertainment industry.

“He’s amazing and he’s so protective because he’s been in this industry forever,” she said of her father, known for iconic roles in musicals like 'Grease' and 'Saturday Night Fever'.

Ella even mentioned that she’d love to collaborate with him on a “Christmas duet.”

Ella is the only daughter of Travolta and Preston, who also had sons Jett, who tragically died at 16, and Benjamin is now 13.
