Jon Batiste says wife Suleika Jaouad's lukemia is in 'beautiful remission', hopes it remains that way

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Batiste and Suleika Jaouad continue to stand strong together through life's challenges.
Over a month after the 'Freedom' singer and his wife of three years skipped the 2025 Grammys amid her battle with leukemia, he shared that she is currently in remission.
Jon Batiste says Suleika Jaouad's is 'doing great'
Jon Batiste expressed his hope that her condition stays the same while acknowledging the journey they have been on together.

"She's doing great," he shared Jaouad's health update with E! News.
Jaouad, who was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 before relapsing in December 2021 and again in summer 2024, is now in a beautiful remission.
Batiste now hopes it remains that way. He even praised Jaouad, saying she has been taking everything in stride and dealing with her challenges gracefully.
"Now she has this beautiful remission. That's been the case for the last few months, and we're just hoping that it remains that way," he said.

The couple will soon embark on Suleika Jaouad's book tour for her novel, 'The Book of Alchemy'.
Jon Batiste revealed that despite her health issues, Jaouad continues to pursue her creative passions "after a crazy recurrence."

"She's feeling healthy. The treatment is working, and we're very inspired," he added.
Batiste acknowledged that the battle with leukemia is ongoing. "It's just a process," he said.
He shared, "Sometimes the cancer will be gone, other times, we'll have to deal with what comes when it comes back, and that's just a part of our life. I support her in that."

Suleika Jaouad's health struggles have deepened their connection
According to Jon Batiste, these challenges test a person and help build character and strengthen relationships.
"It tests you," he said, adding "We all have these things that challenge us to build our character and strengthen our relationships."

He added, "It's actually strengthened our relationship and connection because we already were close."
The couple finds joy in simple moments together. They love taking long drives, which Batiste described as feeling like a warm hug.
"When you're just with somebody you love—it feels like a warm hug just being in the car," he said. These quiet moments allow them to reconnect and appreciate each other's company.
