NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Jon Stewart was left with a bleeding hand after he smashed a coffee mug during an impassioned monologue on 'The Daily Show'.

On the February 24, Monday, episode, the host injured his hand after getting angry while discussing the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) budget cuts and the high price of prescription drugs, according to People.

In his monologue, Jon Stewart said, “The companies we subsidize with billions of dollars are allowing us the privilege to negotiate the price of 10 of their drugs."

“And 10 is all of them, right? It would be embarrassing if it was a small drop in the bucket, and that the American people didn’t expect that we should negotiate for all their f**king drugs, because we have already paid for them with our subsidies!” he added.

Jon Stewart then smashed a mug kept on the desk and shattered it after shouting, "It is f**king insane! Come on!"

The 62-year-old host then put his hand underneath the desk and quipped, “I’ll be going to the hospital soon.”

After continuing his monologue, Stewart lifted his hand back above the desk a few minutes later and revealed that it was covered in blood.

The audience gasped in unison before he said, “It’s fine!” with a laugh.
