LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: During a recent appearance on 'The View', Joy Behar brought up an awkward and somewhat humorous moment from Lauren Sanchez's past.

Lauren, who was on the show to discuss her new children's book, 'The Fly Who Flew to Space,' recounted feeling a bit jittery as she returned to the studio. Her nerves were linked to her previous experiences with the show.

Lauren Sanchez reflects on her nervous return to 'The View'

Lauren Sanchez shared with the hosts, “I have to tell you, it's so funny, my hand was shaking back there and my sister looked at me and she goes, you're not auditioning this time, you're a guest.”

Joy Behar, a longstanding panelist on 'The View', added an interesting layer to Lauren's story. She informed the audience, “For your information, Lauren auditioned for this show twice and the powers that be decided, no, you're not getting the job, but look at you now, I don't think that you needed the job!”

“First time I did it, I think it was like 20 some years ago, [I was] super young. I think they were replacing Debbie Matenopoulos at the time and I auditioned. It was so much fun,” Lauren confessed.

“And one time, I actually saw the clip, I couldn't believe it. They pulled my hair back, they made me dress a little more conservative and after the show, Barbara Walters pulled me aside and she goes, ‘What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’”

Lauren Sanchez continued, “[Barbara] goes ‘If you're gonna go down, go down as yourself because if you don't go down as yourself, you're going to beat yourself up twice,’ and it was incredible advice.”

She then addressed Joy directly, recalling, “And I don't know if you remember this, I was having a tough time, I was stressed out and you walked past me and you're like, ‘Keep your chin up, kid,’” to which Joy humorously replied, “I’m so nice.”

Sunny Hostin chimed in, noting that she too had auditioned around the same time Lauren did. “You and I auditioned together during the Hunger Games round!” Sunny said. “It’s so great that everything has worked out well for you so we don’t have to feel guilty you’re not on the show.”
