LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: MSNBC host Joy Reid accused right-wing billionaires of utilizing the raging wildfires in and around Los Angeles to create an "apartheid" in California during her opening monologue on the Monday, January 13, episode of 'Reid Out'.

The LA fires are yet to be brought under control and have already burned through more than 60 square miles of land, as per CBS. At least 25 people have lost their lives in the tragedy, and more than 12,000 structures have been damaged.

Joy Reid shares concern LA fires would lead to creation of 'apartheid state'

As per the Daily Mail, Joy Reid claimed on her show that the elites would be using the horrific tragedy to their advantage, and push out minorities from Los Angeles in the process.

"The people losing the most in Los Angeles County aren't the rich, faded celebrities," she stated. "It's the middle-class homeowners in places like Altadena, where a historic and stable Black neighborhood has been all but wiped off the map."

The 56-year-old journalist speculated that the 'billionaire right' would soon buy up the destroyed properties and prevent minorities from moving into the area, thereby creating an "apartheid state".

"While the vulture capitalists are already circling, hoping to snap up the burned-up properties for pennies on the dollar so they can hedge fund them into yet another batch of billionaire-owned, overpriced rentals," shared Reid.

"They can drive out the brown people and the Black and Asian people, or just sink them into the same apartheid they’ve created in Texas, and they will control enough electoral votes if they control California to never have to worry about another presidential election," she continued.

Multiple wildfires fueled by intense Santa Ana Winds are burning across Los Angeles County. At least five people have been killed, and over 25,000 acres have burned. Reid further argued that the tragedy provided the rich conservatives to push out liberal voters from the blue state, saying, "The billionaire right knows that they cannot take California - home to Hollywood, San Francisco, and Kendrick Lamar - by culture. So they’re looking to try to take it with lies and deceit and by fire."

Joy Reid gets trolled for 'fearmongering'

Netizens refused to buy Joy Reid's claim and slammed her on the social media platform X for claiming right-wing billionaires will use the raging wildfires to create an "apartheid" in California.

"She’s never even touched grass before," wrote a user.

"A little delusional," shared another through a gif.

"I literally have no response to this nonsense. Wow, how hateful," noted a third.

"Why isn't she canceled yet?" asked another.

"Insufferable," remarked one.

"I'll be glad when people like her are sued into oblivion for lies and fear mongering," expressed another user.
