Judge approves late 'Rocky' star Carl Weathers' son as co-trustee of inheritance estimated at $815K
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A Los Angeles Superior Court judge would assign management of late actor Carl Weathers' estate to his son following the approval of a petition filed by the late actor's family.
According to court records obtained by Radar Online, the actor's longtime attorney, Barry B Felsen recently submitted a hearing on the petition where Felsen requested that the estate be managed outside the court's oversight.
On Saturday, February 2, the 'Creed' actor's family announced his death through his agent. "Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life. Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations," the statement read.

The petition was approved by the court, and Felsen was named executor of the estate. The amended Will from October 2014, dated May 6, 1988, was entered into the court file.
Barry B Felsen pointed out that Weathers had designated his son Matthew as a co-trustee of the estate in the original petition. The 'Rocky' actor had a second son named Jason.
Weathers had two ex-wives, per Felsen: Mary Ann and Rhona. He declared that Rhona's requirement for spousal support had been completely met.
The bulk of Weathers' assets were found in a trust that Weathers' son Jason and Felsen will manage. According to the attorney, the estate was estimated to be worth $815k.
The next hearing was set aside for Felsen to provide the court with an update on the estate.

The 'Rocky' and 'Predator' actor—whose official cause of death was listed as "atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease"—had a living trust that will receive the estate's proceeds.
According to Weathers' attorney Charles Meyer, the trust's beneficiaries are private, per PEOPLE.
Weathers left his now-adult sons Matthew and Jason all of his personal belongings in his 1988 will, which was revised with a codicil in 1994.
The documents state: "I give all of my jewelry, art objects, clothing, personal automobiles, club memberships, boats and recreational vehicles, and other tangible articles of a personal nature" to Jason and Matthew.
His ex-wives Rhona Unsell and Mary Ann are also listed in the paperwork.

The paperwork was annexed to a petition for succession that Weathers' lawyer submitted to the California Superior Court on March 20, which was a standard legal action that permitted him to settle the estate.
Several former co-stars of Carl Weathers praise late actor
Following his death, Weathers' co-star in 'Predator,' Arnold Schwarzenegger, said, "Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person. We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it."
Sylvester Stallone, who starred with Weathers in 'Rocky', posted on Instagram, saying, "We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching."
The late star's coworker on 'Rocky,' Dolph Lundgren, expressed his sadness and said: "I was saddened to hear the news this morning. Along with the world, I will miss Carl. He was a great actor, a terrific athlete and a good friend. I cherish many special memories of Carl, both professionally and personally. Like Apollo Creed, he had that special charm that always brought a smile to your face."
