LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kate Hudson shares that her relationship with her estranged father, musician Bill Hudson might be evolving.

Appearing recently on ‘CBS Sunday Morning’, the ‘Almost Famous’ star opened up about the recent development in her relationship with her biological father.

She shared that although she doesn't really have a relationship with her father, things are recently “warming up” in their relationship, per USA Today.

Kate’s mother Goldie Hawn was married to Bill Hudson from 1976 to 1982. The former couple separated when Kate and her brother Oliver Hudson were young children.

Talking to CBS Sunday Morning, the 45-year-old actress shared, "There's warming ups of this all happening.”

"But it will be whatever it will be,” shared the ‘Bride Wars’ star and added that she has, however, “no expectation” about their relationship.

The ‘Glass Onion’ actress concluded, "I just want him to be happy.”

Kate Hudson had difficult relationship with Bill Hudson

This is not the first time that Kate has talked about her difficult relationship with her father. After their parents’ divorce, she and Oliver were brought up by Hawn and her partner of 41 years, Kurt Russell

During an appearance at ‘Today’ show in 2021, the ‘Fool’s Gold’ star shared that she and Oliver "didn't know our dad" growing up, per USA Today.

She shared, "I have a great family. I have a beautiful mother. I have a stepfather who stepped in and played a huge, huge part in sharing what it is to have a dependable father figure in our life. But it doesn't take away from the fact that we didn't know our dad."

Bill Hudson, too did not speak highly about his two children during a 2015 interview with Daily Mail

After Oliver called his father out on a Father’s Day post which he captioned, “Happy abandonment day,” Bill clapped back saying, "I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own.”

He further added that both the siblings were "dead to me" and asked them to "stop using the Hudson name."

Hudson, who recently released her debut album ‘Glorious’ shared in an interview last year that her difficult relationship with her biological father kept her away from venturing into a music career.

She shared, per Fox News, "Earlier on in my career, I thought I would definitely do music, but then 'Almost Famous' happened," referring to her Oscar-nominated 2000 film.

Kate continued, "But later on I kind of rejected it because I was like, 'You know what?' As you do when you're dealing with daddy issues. I don't want to connect to that part because that's my dad. That's all dad."

"If I put that out in the world and people didn't like it, it would destroy me,” shared the actress-turned-musician before adding, "If that one connection that I had to him, I failed miserably at, would be devastating to me. I wasn't ready for that.”
