LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dakota Johnson recently hosted Saturday Night Live for the second time, and the evening held a special reunion.

During Johnson's monologue, she was surprised by the appearance of the night's musical performer, Justin Timberlake, leading to a nostalgic moment reflecting on their shared screen time in the 2010 hit drama, 'The Social Network'.

"Tonight is also a sort of reunion for me and Justin Timberlake," Johnson, 34, shared during her monologue, recalling their collaboration in 'The Social Network'.

From 'Social network' nostalgia to banter on stage

According to People, Timberlake, now 42, portrayed the real-life Napster founder and former Facebook President, Sean Parker, while Johnson played a young Stanford student who played a significant role in the film, marking her first adult onscreen role.

After mentioning 'The Social Network', Timberlake joined Johnson on the SNL stage, prompting her to humorously ask, "What are you doing up here, are you lost?" Timberlake explained he thought it was his cue upon hearing his name.

They engaged in banter, with Timberlake offering to help in sketches and reminding Johnson that he had previously hosted SNL, albeit a decade ago.

Johnson welcomes Timberlake's comeback with a dash of humor

"Anyway, I'm so happy you chose my show for your comeback," Johnson told Timberlake, who seemed slightly confused. She clarified, "I meant that in a good way," leading Timberlake to make a humorous remark about bringing "coming back" after bringing "sexy back."

He wished Johnson good luck before a surprise appearance by Jimmy Fallon, dressed as Barry Gibb from 'The Bee Gees'.

“Are we doing it?” Fallon asked, as Timberlake signaled a 'cut' behind Johnson, implying a change in plans for a planned sketch. Fallon then improvised, saying, "I’m here to say, ‘Break a leg’" and adding humor by claiming his attire was his normal clothes.

Johnson's SNL monologue and hosting highlights

In her opening monologue, Johnson also gave a shoutout to Taylor Swift, recalling her previous attendance at the SNL 40th anniversary show and highlighting the star-studded audience, including Donald Trump, sitting close to Swift, who would later become a prominent figure in American politics.

Throughout the night, Johnson's hosting featured sketches poking fun at America's Stanley Cup craze and a Shark Tank recreation with guest star sharks Mark Cuban and Barbara Corcoran.

Timberlake continued to make appearances alongside Johnson, including a sketch where he portrayed Bee Gees member Robin Gibbs with Fallon as Barry Gibbs.

Johnson's hilarious studio tour, marvel debut, and SNL finale

This episode marked Johnson's return to SNL since her debut in 2015. In a teaser clip ahead of the show, Johnson took viewers on a humorous tour of Studio 8H, the show's home for nearly 50 years, and jokingly referenced her previous claim of loving limes, later revealed to be a lie due to her citrus allergy.

Johnson's SNL appearance follows her Marvel superhero debut in Madame Web as the clairvoyant Cassandra Webb, co-starring Sydney Sweeney and featuring a plot centered around protecting friends from a psychic threat.

Closing the night, Fallon and Timberlake revived their recurring 'The Barry Gibb Talk Show' sketch, with Timberlake crashing Johnson's opening monologue and Fallon, in character as Barry Gibb, asking, "Are we doing this?" The sketch added a humorous touch to an already entertaining evening on Saturday Night Live.
