From this energetic start to a playful classroom instruments segment featuring his greatest hits, Timberlake appeared genuinely enthusiastic about launching the era of 'Everything I Thought It Was', marking a return to the spotlight after several years of relative seclusion.
Timberlake revealed that he dedicated four years to crafting the record, resulting in the creation of nearly 100 songs.
At the outset of the show, when introducing Timberlake, Fallon embarked on an extended comedic riff in the opening monologue, humorously underscoring the close bond between them.
Fallon playfully remarked, "He is the Taylor to my Travis," and continued with analogies such as "the missing bolt to my Boeing plane" and "the recall to my exploding Tesla."
Emphasizing their strong friendship, Fallon quipped, "Yeah, he and I are besties. We go together like a soccer mom and a Stanley tumbler....That’s right, we’re quite a team. Think of us like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris but with chemistry...I’m so glad he’s here. Last week when it snowed a little in New York, I looked at the grass and I saw those frosted tips and I thought, I should call Justin."

Following their amusing banter, the duo squeezed into 'The Tonight Show' schoolroom alongside the Roots for a spirited round of Classroom Instruments.
Timberlake, armed with a triangle, initiated a funky and unplugged rendition of his newly released single, 'Selfish.'
However, they only managed to complete a verse before seamlessly transitioning into a rapid-fire medley of Timberlake's solo hits.
The musical journey included snippets of 'Señorita' with its hip-swiveling vibes, followed by infectious renditions of 'SexyBack', 'My Love', 'Suit & Tie', 'Rock Your Body', and a lively finale with 'Can't Stop the Feeling.'
Making a grand entrance, the 42-year-old Timberlake engaged Fallon in a dance up the steps into the audience, showcasing some disco moves before energetically returning to the stage and humorously declaring himself "exhausted."
Justin Timberlake unveils unmatched effort behind 'Everything I Thought It Was'
Fallon commended Timberlake's unparalleled work ethic, expressing that he had never witnessed anyone putting in as much effort as Timberlake did for 'Everything I Thought It Was' (EITIW).
"I feel like we've already had this conversation, but we have to have it so you guys can hear the story," Timberlake remarked, highlighting the challenges of recording during the pandemic, welcoming his second son, Phinneas, with wife Jessica Biel, and the extensive process of tracking 100 songs over various sessions spanning several years.
While discussing the sound of the album, Timberlake playfully suggested that 'The Tonight Show' should consider a spin-off titled 'Jimmy Fallon Listens to Your Album.'
Timberlake then shared the amusing experience of observing Fallon listening to the album. In response to Timberlake's recollection, Fallon, feigning rehearsed confusion, asked, "What was I doing?"
To this, Timberlake responded with laughter, describing Fallon as being totally "cool" and "chillin’ out" in the studio.
Adding a playful twist to the conversation, Timberlake then emulated Fallon by jumping on the couch and enthusiastically shouting phrases like "What is this song?!" and "OH! What?!" before breaking into some goofy dance moves.
In addition to the entertaining banter, Timberlake unveiled plans for the upcoming 'Forget Tomorrow World' tour, scheduled to commence on April 29th in Vancouver.
The tour is set to include stops in cities such as Seattle, Phoenix, Fort Worth, Raleigh, Miami, and New York, with specific dates and venues to be announced soon.
