Kai Trump gets restraining order against alleged ‘homeless’ stalker
WASHINGTON, DC: Days after gunfire near the White House reignited concerns over presidential security, fresh questions are swirling once again around the safety of the powerful Trump family, this time with Donald Trump’s eldest grandchild, Kai Trump, moving to secure a restraining order against an alleged stalker.
The 19-year-old daughter of First Son Don Jr. and his ex-wife Vanessa Trump filed a petition in Palm Beach County Court seeking protection from a 26-year-old man identified as Gabriel Garza Jr., whom she described as “homeless” and allegedly living out of a car in the Jupiter and Palm Beach County area.
Judge grants Kai Trump a restraining order
After requesting that the Palm Beach County Court hearing be rescheduled to avoid conflicting with her final day of high school, Kai Trump secured a legal victory as the judge granted an extended restraining order against Garza, barring him from coming within 500 feet of her home or workplace until May 2027.
As Kai announced, she will be studying at the University of Miami; the order also barred Garza from approaching her at the institution's premises.
According to the documents obtained by TMZ, the court initially granted a temporary order in April that barred Garza Jr. from stalking, cyberstalking, or committing any criminal offense resulting in physical injury or death.
The new order stipulates that he cannot attend events Kai is at and must surrender any firearms he owns.
In two years, this is the second restraining order Kai has obtained against her alleged stalkers. In June last year, 23-year-old Anthony Reyes was arrested after allegedly scaling a wall at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, telling police he wanted to marry the president’s granddaughter.
This is not the first time Kai has had a scare with an alleged stalker. Reyes was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail on a $50,000 bond, according to court records. He was ordered not to contact Donald Trump or any of his family members, including Kai Trump. He pleaded not guilty.
Questions raised over Trump's security
Kai Trump obtaining a restraining order came as questions have been raised over the security of President Donald Trump after gunshots rang near the White House.
On May 23, a 21-year-old Maryland resident, identified as Nasire Best, was shot and killed by Secret Service after he approached authorities and opened fire at a checkpoint near the White House.
It comes less than a month after a man opened fire outside the ballroom where Trump, members of his Cabinet, and numerous government officials were attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, an attack that highlighted a string of attempted security breaches and raised concerns around the safety of the president.
Hours after the incident, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the shooting was another sign the White House needed a “safe and secure space,” such as the ballroom that he is seeking additional funding for.
In July 2024, Trump was grazed by a bullet when a 20-year-old gunman fired at the president as he held a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In September that year, a man came to a golf course near Mar-a-Lago with a rifle, aiming it through the bushes as Trump was playing there, officials said. Secret Service agents shot at the man, who fled in his car before being pulled over and arrested. He was later sentenced to life in prison for the attempted assassination.
