LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Donald Trump's granddaughter, Kai Trump, is facing online criticism for taking the US Secret Service to a personal grocery shopping trip. The 18-year-old documented her visit to Erewhon store, a high-end supermarket famous for its steep prices and specialty products, on a YouTube video, giving viewers a glimpse of her luxury shopping experience at the upscale store.

Kai Trump slammed after posting video from Erewhon store

After clips from Kai Trump’s vlog titled “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon” went viral across social media platforms, several internet users quickly took to the internet to criticize her for bringing a Secret Service agent along on her shopping trip.

One user asked, "Is it standard for president’s grandkids to get secret service or is it usually just president’s kids?"

One enraged commenter said, "Why are we providing secret service protection for the president's grandchildren? I understand immediate family but how many generations are we responsible for, especially when they can easily provide their own security."

One X user wrote, "Are Americans paying for this secret service? If so we want our money back."

One commenter declared, "She’s not immediate family. We shouldn’t have to pay for her Secret Service protection."

A frustrated user said, "Disgusted my taxpayer money is being spent on this. She can be an influencer on her own dime. She should sign up for the military."

A person worried, "What a colossal waste of tax dollars. Kai Trump is a grifter just like the family has taught her. Trashy family."

Another person asked, "Why is the American public wasting their hard earned money on this?"

“I’m gonna need to file for bankruptcy,” Kai joked after spotting an Erewhon-branded sweatshirt priced at $165. As she filled her basket with health supplements, sushi, a shaker water bottle and other items, she added, “Everything’s super expensive.” The vlog quickly gained traction, drawing more than 200,000 views within a day of its posting on Sunday, March 8.

Speaking to her 1.5 million followers, Kai insisted she does not usually spend heavily. “Guys, one thing about me is I don’t spend, like, a lot of money,” she said, later telling someone behind the camera, “I’m very… like I don’t spend a lot.” When an employee informed her about the $165 sweatshirt, she said she is “trying to stay calm.”

After she left the store, the cameraman joked that the Secret Service is rolling out the “red carpet” as multiple black SUVs pulled up to the curb. Kai then returned to her hotel room to unpack her grocery haul, which included the viral $21 smoothie created by Hailey Bieber, a $14 bottle of water and a $17 jar of dates.

While sampling sushi from the Los Angeles store, Kai spit it out and said, “I love sushi. That is the worst tuna I’ve ever tasted in my entire life.” She added that it tasted “fishy and, like, hard,” before urging the cameraman to try it. “I’m gonna throw up,” she stated.

She later sampled rice balls, vegan buffalo cauliflower and short rib from the store’s hot bar. “It’s good,” she said, before questioning the price. “Is this worth $37? No.” Kai added that she could probably make the same meal at home for “under $10.”

In total, Kai Trump spent $233 on groceries that fit into a single bag, noting that some of the food was “not even edible.” The vlog also showed her purchasing several other items, including a $10 lemonade, before leaving the store. She ended the video by confirming the total cost of her grocery run and showed herself riding away in a vehicle accompanied by Secret Service agents.
