LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kaia Gerber has shared an emotional letter for her late older brother Presley Gerber, who died on September 20 at the age of 27. The model and actress reflected on their close bond and the pain of losing someone who had been part of her life since birth.

According to earlier reports, Presley suffered cardiac arrest at a rehabilitation facility before his death. However, the cause of his death remains unknown. Nearly a month after his passing, Kaia shared a lengthy tribute on Instagram, expressing her grief through childhood memories, personal reflections and words about the love she continues to feel for her brother.

Kaia Gerber struggles to find words after brother Presley's death

In her Instagram post, Kaia shared a throwback clip of herself and Presley dancing as children. The final slide featured a photograph of the siblings standing on a beach and looking out toward the horizon.

Reflecting on her loss, Kaia admitted that words could not fully capture what she was experiencing.

“Prez, i don’t have the words. and maybe the tiny mercy is that we don’t need them all along. words fail and words subtract and words summarize and words always lack truth. And how naive of me to believe that language could transcend grief.”

Her message conveyed the difficulty of putting grief into words, particularly when dealing with the loss of a sibling with whom she had shared a lifetime of memories.

Kaia Gerber says she will always love brother Presley

Kaia also revealed that she had read books about grief but had not found answers that could help her understand “the magnitude of losing you.”

“You know how much I loved being your sister. It has always been, and will forever be, my favorite thing about myself. I came into this world with a white-knuckle grip around you. I had more love for you than I knew what to do with,” she wrote.

Describing Presley as her “ultimate teacher,” Kaia reflected on how naturally their bond had come to her.

“To say loving you was the easiest thing in the world would imply that it required any effort at all. I was born loving you. I will die loving you. There was never anything else.”

Her words highlighted the enduring nature of their relationship and the place Presley continued to hold in her life.

Kaia Gerber says life feels incomplete without Presley

Kaia further opened up about learning to navigate life without her brother physically present. She described the everyday adjustments that had become part of her grief, including no longer being able to reach for her phone to call him.

“learning how to love you when I cannot see you. how to tell you something without picking up my phone to call you. how to be your sister in a world that i cannot reach for you in. I don't know how to do that yet.”

The 25-year-old, who is the daughter of Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, ended her tribute with a reference to Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman's famous love letter to his wife, written months after her death.

“My darling brother, I do adore you. I love my brother. My brother is dead. and this party sucks so bad without you, prez,” Kaia added.

Her tribute offered a deeply personal glimpse into the grief she continues to navigate following the loss of her older brother.
