Kaia Gerber’s parents’ interference ruined her romance with Austin Butler: ‘They butted into it’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler reportedly called it quits after three years of dating at the end of 2024. Sources have now revealed that the model-actor has been blaming her parents for the sad end of the romance with the 'Elvis' actor.
Sources revealed to Daily Mail that Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford's choice to send a warning to their daughter Kaia's boyfriend, Austin Butler, might have been the final straw in their brief romance.

Kaia Gerber, 23, and Austin Butler, 33, reportedly ended their romance in late 2024 after dating since 2021. The young model now holds her parents responsible for the breakup as they had started doubting Austin's intentions.
The Oscar-nominated actor didn't "appreciate" that Rande, 62, and Cindy, 58, had "butted" into the relationship and found their involvement to be a bit too much.
"What really sealed the deal about the breakup is the talk Kaia’s parents had with Austin about his relationship with their daughter," a source told the Mail.
"He didn’t appreciate the fact they butted into their relationship. It rubbed Austin up the wrong way," they added.
According to rumors, Cindy and Rande had a serious conversation with the 'Elvis' star back in October regarding his future with their daughter and when he might pop the question.
He wasn't prepared for a commitment and the Hollywood OGs were concerned that Kaia was squandering the "best years of her life", per Daily Mail.
According to a second insider, the senior couple is now feeling "terrible" that their benevolent interference could have caused their daughter's romance with Austin to end.
"Kaia’s putting on a brave face in public over the breakup but the truth is she’s upset," the source said.
"She’s partly blaming her parents for the talk they had with Austin telling him he could be wasting the best years of Kaia’s life because he wasn’t making a solid commitment," they added.
"Kaia told her parents they had no right to come between them," the insider dished.
Regarding the serious chat Cindy and Rande had with the 33-year-old actor in October, they wanted to know why he hadn't asked Kaia to marry him.
"Rande and Cindy both love Austin and think of him as family, but the fact is he isn’t. After dating their daughter Kaia for over three years, he’s shown no sign of asking her to get engaged," a family source previously told the Mail.
The source added, "They don’t think for a minute he isn’t serious about her, but he’s 33, and isn’t it time he thought about settling down?"
Austin Butler now keen to focus on his Hollywood career
Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler made their romance public in March 2022 by walking the red carpet at the pre-Oscars party hosted by W Magazine.
A series of public shows of affection soon followed, including a passionate kiss in front of cameras at the Cannes Film Festival and the Met Gala in May.
Austin, who was seen having a double date with Cindy and Rande at an Italian restaurant in California in May, is close to Kaia's family.
He also celebrated the New Year with her family in January 2024 while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
However, rumors that Kaia and Austin's romance had hit rough waters had been rife in recent months. In September, Kaia celebrated her 23rd birthday without Austin, and he missed their most recent family vacation in Mexico.
Austin is now eager to concentrate on his acting career after receiving a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his depiction of 'Elvis' and being listed by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023.
"Austin's main focus is his career. He has enjoyed dating Kaia, but it is hard making everything work. He wants to focus on his career and dating can hamper that," said a source.
The actor, who was recently in New York filming 'Caught Stealing' with Matt Smith, was associated with actress Lily-Rose Depp and his 'Elvis' co-star Olivia DeJonge prior to meeting Kaia.
Meanwhile, Kaia was involved with a number of celebrities, including Jacob Elordi, before meeting Austin. She was briefly associated with comedian Pete Davidson before her fling with Jacob.
