NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kamala Harris has once again stirred up the internet with what many are calling a "word salad" speech!

The former vice president's remarks quickly went viral following two surprise appearances in New York with her husband, Doug Emhoff. The couple first attended 'A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical' at Studio 54, then they made their way to the Majestic Theater for 'Gypsy'.

While Harris was met with cheers and a standing ovation as she entered, her pep talk to the Broadway cast soon sparked controversy online, with critics mocking her speech for its confusing delivery. What started as a warm reception quickly turned into an online debate.

Kamala Harris' viral word salad speech to Broadway cast

A one-minute, 22-second video of Kamala Harris recently went viral online, showing the former vice president delivering an inspiring speech to the cast of 'A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical' on Broadway.

She began her address by saying, "In times when we're dealing with so much in the world, um, we have to find those moments that are about joy and, and, and, shining, you know, as we say, shining a light in moments of darkness.”

Harris continued with a reference to the concept of nature abhorring a vacuum: “When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also lets see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum.”

She urged, “Where there's a vacancy, lets fill it. Lets know that reality is that the progress of our nation has been about the expansion of rights, not the restriction of rights."

Highlighting the challenges ahead, she added, “We’re seeing a U-turn right now. For those rights to be maintained, which means we have to be vigilant. It’s just the nature of it."

Harris then concluded with a call for clarity and resilience: “We have to be clear eyed. And it doesn't mean we don't see the beauty in everything. These things all co-exist, but I believe we fight for something not against."

Harris first made waves with a somewhat unusual remark during a March 2023 speech on her trip to Ghana, when she discussed what the word "innovation" meant to her, as per Dailymail. She described innovation as "one's ability not only to see but to do things differently".

She continued by emphasizing the importance of "challenging the premise, questioning the status quo, and bold thinking," as well as "the pursuit of what can be unburdened by what has been". At one point, she questioned the audience, asking, “You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?”
