PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Minnesota Governor Tim Walz did not pull any punches while attacking the Republican Party over issues related to reproductive rights, during his debut speech as Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' running mate on Tuesday, August 7.

Harris introduced the Democratic vice presidential candidate in front of a 12,000-strong crowd at her Pennsylvania rally, saying, "Since the day that I announced my candidacy, I set out to find a partner who can help build this brighter future. I found such a leader: Governor Tim Walz of the great state of Minnesota.”

Walz, in his turn, hit the ground running as he slammed former president and GOP nominee Donald Trump over his record with the economy and violent crimes, as well as for his handling of the Covid crisis.

He further announced that he was ready to face Trump's running mate JD Vance on the debate stage, jibing, "That is if he's willing to get off the couch and show up."

Tim Walz rebukes GOP over reproductive rights rhetoric

The governor touched on the subject of IVF and reproductive rights of individuals in his speech on Tuesday, stating, "You know, some of us in here are old enough to remember... when it was Republicans who were talking about freedom. It turns out now what they meant was the government should be free to invade your doctor's office."

"In Minnesota, we respect our neighbors and the personal choices that they make. Even if we wouldn't make the same choice for ourselves, there is a golden rule - 'Mind your own damn business,'" he said, as the crowd erupted in cheers.

Coming around to the subject of IVF, Walz went on to share a personal story about him and his wife Gwen.

"Look, that includes IVF. And this gets personal for me and my family." he continued. "When my wife and I decided to have children, we spent years going through infertility treatments. And I remember praying every night for a call for good news, the pit in my stomach when the phone rang, and the agony when we heard that the treatments hadn't worked."

"So it wasn't by chance that when we welcomed our daughter into the world, we named her Hope. When Vice President (Harris) and I talk about freedom, we mean the freedom to make your own healthcare decisions, and for our children to be free to go to school without worrying they are going to be shot dead in their classrooms," he added.

"Not a hard concept! Not your body, not your life, and therefore it's not your business!" wrote a user.

"Damn, he’s good!" exclaimed another.

"Time to put Mind your own damn business' on t-shirts," shared a third.

"Mind your own damn business. Why have republicans forgotten about this important American value?" asked a fourth.

"Hope JD has good insurance to get treated for that BURN 🔥" quipped yet another.
