NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared her take on President Joe Biden deciding to suspend his reelection campaign during her appearance on the Tuesday, July 23 episode of 'The View'.

Sharing that it was an honor and a privilege to serve under President Joe Biden, Jean-Pierre stated, "At the end of the day, when we think about what he has done in the last four years, who he has been as a human as a person, by the time we are done, by the time we have gone through the finish line at the end of January, he would have done more than what most Presidents have done in 8 years."

"What we saw from the President these last couple of days was a human decency, a good man, someone who decided not to put himself first, like we've seen before, but to put the American people first and this country first."

Speaking of Biden's letter to the public through which he announced his decision not to seek a second term on Sunday, July 21, Jean-Pierre said, "If you read it thoroughly, there's no spin to it... He truly believed it was the right thing to do in this moment."

"He truly believed it was the right thing to do for this country," she continued through teary eyes. "The right thing to do for this country, the American people, is to give it to someone who is incredibly qualified... While it was hard for many of us, we are incredibly proud of this president."

Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the work for President Biden and his administration was far from over even though the President has refused to seek a second term.

"We are public servants, and this President was a public servant for 54 years," she noted. "We are not done yet."

"Obviously, he stepped down from running and being the nominee, but he is very much still the President. He still has the job. We have a lot more to get done on behalf of the American people and he wants to zero in and focus on that."

She further shared that President Biden would be giving an address to the nation on Wednesday, July 24, at 8 pm ET.
