WASHINGTON, DC: White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is drawing sharp criticism online after declaring that President Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

Her remarks come just weeks after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed to have nominated Trump for the prestigious award, a move many critics dismissed as a transparent attempt to gain favor with the US leader.

Speaking at a press briefing, Karoline Leavitt claimed, "The president has now ended conflicts between Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and Egypt and Ethiopia."

"This means President Trump has brokered, on average, about one peace deal or ceasefire per month during his six months in office. It’s well past time that President Trump was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize," she said, calling his efforts historic and overdue for global recognition.

She continued, "On the peace front, President Trump helped deliver an immediate and unconditional ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia. The two countries were engaged in a deadly conflict that had displaced more than 300,000 people until President Trump stepped in to put an end to it."

Leavitt added, "The president spoke directly on the phone with the acting prime minister of Thailand and the prime minister of Cambodia to inform both leaders that unless they brought their conflict to an end, there would be no trade discussions or agreements with the United States."

The White House press secretary has made similar remarks before. Earlier this month, she posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Trump deserves Nobel Peace Prize. He’s achieved more than those who’ve won before,” linking to a USA Today op-ed supporting that view.

Internet says Donald Trump 'didn’t stop any wars' as Karoline Leavitt declares he  deserves the Nobel Peace Prize

Hours after White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt declared that President Donald Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize, social media erupted in backlash.

One bluntly wrote, “Not a single word of truth in this press conference. Par for the course,” while another mocked the speech with a wall of “blah blahs,” adding, “He didn’t stop any wars.”

Another commenter offered sarcasm wrapped in political critique, “Someone let her know that the Nobel Peace Prize committee now operates out of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands and they have to ask Felon Trump some questions before accepting that particular nomination.”

A person slammed the president, writing, “Demanding prizes and ballrooms! He’s such a kindergartener,” and someone else echoed the frustration, writing, “Is he begging for it? This is turning into an obsession.”

Another simply wrote, “Shame on you...,” while one more said, “LMAO. Can’t stop laughing. The desperation is really sad.”
