Kate Hudson clarifies she didn't deodorize co-star Matthew McConaughey while filming 'Fool's Gold'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kate Hudson has finally put a rumor to rest from the ‘Fool’s Gold’ shooting days.

Starring along with Matthew McConaughey in the 2008 hit, it was reported that the ‘Almost Famous’ actress made the ‘Killer Joe’ actor wear deodorant.

During her appearance on the ‘Watch What Happens Live' show, Kate Hudson answered, "No!" adding, “No, he doesn’t wear deodorant. And by the way, I don’t either.”

The actress and singer further clarified that it was more of the fact that McConaughey had a very distinct smell, reported ET.

“My thing was that I could smell him from, you know, a mile [away] because we were so close! He’s an — we’re au naturels, you know?” she explained.

Hudson mentioned during the show that a sequel to 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' is always being considered. "I think they’re always thinking about that. All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script. I think we’re both totally open but it just never has happened."

The rumors first started when the ‘Interstellar’ actor revealed in an interview with Playboy that his co-star would often try to ply him with deodorizers during the filming of the ‘Fool’s Gold'.

“She always brings a salt rock, which is some natural deodorant, and says, 'Would you please put this on?'" he told the outlet.

"I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant. The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, 'Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man and, two, smells like you,'" he added.

Yvette Nicole Brown, who worked with Matthew McConaughey in ‘Tropic Thunder’ also shared her curiosity on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show in 2021.

“I remember that Matthew McConaughey said that he did not use deodorant and that he didn't have an odor. So my first thought is, 'I'm going to get as close as I can to him to see if he's right,'" she shared.

“He did not have an odor. He smells like granola and good living. He has a sweet, sweet scent that is just him and it's not musty or crazy," Brown continued. "I believe he bathes because he smells delicious. He just didn't have deodorant on."
