LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM: A royal expert has claimed that Kate Middleton is “fortunate to even be speaking of recovery” following her taxing cancer battle.

The future queen announced her diagnosis in early 2024 and spent most of the last year away from the public eye.

But in September, she shared that she’s “doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus,” as per BBC.

Now insiders have, however, said that Catherine’s physical recovery remains a “work in progress,” as reported by the Daily Mail.

Expert says Kate Middleton may be 'glowing on the outside’ but struggling inside

The Daily Mail’s royal correspondent Rebecca English said, “I can say that, from what I understand, she is fortunate to even be speaking of recovery.”

“So, while she may be glowing on the outside, the drama over her last-minute non-attendance at Royal Ascot last week is, perhaps, a timely reminder that the princess was really very poorly not so long ago. And it’s why, to quote the princess herself, this year remains one of ‘balance,’” English added.

The publication also quoted a source saying, “On some levels, I actually think this is a good reminder that she was really seriously ill last year and underwent a significant period of chemo.”

They even noted that “as anyone who has been through that experience will tell you, you can feel very unwell for a long time afterwards. It can take years [to recover].”

Kate Middleton returns to public duties but ‘on her own terms’

The comments came after Kate left her fans and well-wishers worried after she missed her scheduled appearance at the Royal Ascot alongside husband Prince William last week.

Though no statement was made from the palace side regarding her absence, Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, told HELLO! “Kate might be back, but she's doing it sensibly, and on her own terms.”

“Her priorities have changed, and she's listening to her body, instead of being a people pleaser. She's absolutely got to be strict with herself and say: 'No, I can't do this,’” he added.

Kate Middleton ‘is recalibrating her entire life’

An insider told The Daily Beast that the mother-of-three probably won’t be making more than three public appearances over the next few months.

“The important thing here is Kate’s recovery. Kate will take it much easier for the rest of the year. I’d be surprised if you see her more than three times in the next three months,” they claimed.

Another mole spilled that Kate “is recalibrating her entire life, her entire work-life balance. [Ascot] was a wakeup call, not a one-off.”
