Kate Middleton's brother James reveals unlikely place she disclosed Prince William engagement to siblings
LONDON, UK: James Middleton has spoken about the time when he and his sister Pipa Middleton got to know about their sister Kate Middleton’s engagement with Prince William.
The future king had reportedly proposed to Kate in October 2010 but their engagement was announced to the world a month later.
The New York Post citing excerpts from James’ new book, titled ‘Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life’, reported that the trio were at the Old Boot pub near their childhood house in Bucklebury, England, when the Princess of Wales revealed the news in November 2010.
Kate Middleton’s siblings have a pact together to ‘support each other’
He said, “We sit in a corner, chattering quietly. Catherine whispers the news and says it will become public in the next day or so. Pippa and I want to be visibly excited, but we have to tamp down our emotions so no one suspects a thing.”
The British entrepreneur also mentioned that he and his sisters made “a quiet acknowledgment that we’ll always be there for each other, look out for one another, support each other. No matter how crazy things get.”
James thinks Kate Middleton and Prince William are perfect for each other
Besides, James shared with Us Weekly that Kate and William, who got married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey in London, are “so clearly a good fit, just right for each other.”
“I wanted one day to experience what they were experiencing as a couple,” the 37-year-old said before he went on to admire the Prince of Wales.
He stated, “Having been brought up…with strong, capable women surrounding me, I’ve enjoyed having this older brother-type figure to bounce questions [off of]. I’m just incredibly grateful that [Kate and William] have been supportive of me over these years as well.”
James credits Kate Middleton for his well-being
Apart from this, James expressed his gratitude towards his elder sister, who helped him during his mental health struggles, in his memoir.
He reportedly wrote, “Catherine had been doing a lot of work with Heads Together, so there was actually more awareness of how to communicate.”
He also hailed his other sister and their mother Carole Middleton.
He noted, “Growing up surrounded by three strong, capable women felt like having three mothers, and I would rely on Catherine and Pippa for advice.”
“They never dismissed me as their little squirt of a brother who wasn’t worthy of their attention. On the contrary, they let me join in their games and included me in their friendships — they still do to this day,” James added.
