LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kevin Hart might have needed a shield to handle the wave of jokes comedian-actor Katt Williams threw at him during 'The Roast of Kevin Hart' on Netflix.
Williams, who had a years-long public feud with the 'Jumanji' actor, made a surprise appearance on stage, and it quickly became clear that the two had moved past their differences.
One of the wildest moments came when Williams brought up Sean 'Diddy' Combs’ parties in a sharp, sarcastic way, sending the audience into loud laughter.
Williams said, "Just because Kevin went to Diddy parties does not mean he did something wrong. The fact he gets all quiet when you bring it up, that means he did something wrong."
Katt Williams jokes about Kevin Hart and Diddy
Williams’ joke about Sean “Diddy” Combs and his “parties” came up during the roast in connection with Kevin Hart, who is known to be friendly with Combs. The moment was clearly delivered in a sarcastic, comedic tone as part of the roast, not as a serious claim.
Back in 2010, reports stated that Hart hosted a party for Sean Combs in Los Angeles and maintained friendly ties with him, which could be why it was brought up during the roast.
During the show, Hart laughed and went along with the jokes, keeping the mood light and playful. "I’m surprised they invited me," Williams said after Regina Hall introduced him at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. "That’s how little star power you have. They had to start inviting your enemies. I said, 'I hate him.' They said, ‘Come anyway.'"
"Kevin, I’ve won an Emmy Award, but this is going to be my best acting tonight as I pretend like you are a GOAT for the people at home," Williams said. "You’re wondering, why is the Katt man doing this for the money? This is my Riyadh Comedy Festival, only one with a soul," he added.
Kevin Hart and Katt Williams end longtime feud
In the Netflix show, Kevin Hart came forward and clarified that there were no issues or ongoing beef between him and Katt Williams.
"It’s not good for all these white people to see two Black people fighting. We’re too small to have the beef that we had," Hart said. "So, Katt, it’s over. The beef is over between me and Katt. And on a serious note, I love the fact that that man showed up tonight. He showed out," as per Variety.
For those unfamiliar with the feud, it involved years of public back-and-forth between the two comedians. Williams had accused Hart of receiving opportunities in Hollywood that he believed were unfair.
Hart also responded at different times, defending himself and others in the comedy world, including Tiffany Haddish, after Williams made critical comments about her career. These repeated exchanges built tension between them over the years, which was finally addressed and eased during the roast appearance.
