Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom believe separation is 'better for Daisy'

According to a source, the former couple realized that co-parenting without being in a relationship was a healthier option for their child.

“At a certain point, they had to admit it’s better for Daisy to see their parents separately, then she won’t grow up feeling the tension and animosity,” the insider told People.

The source added that both Perry and Bloom are focused on shielding Daisy from any negative effects.

“They are there for Daisy and have been,” the insider shared. “Daisy is their angel, and they want to protect her from anything adverse.”

Their goal is to maintain a peaceful and cooperative dynamic. “They want to keep a friendly relationship so each can be around her separately or together,” the source added.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's years together after their recent split

Perry and Bloom first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes afterparty. Perry previously shared a light-hearted memory from that night during an episode of 'American Idol'.

“I had my security guard grab 10 In-N-Outs and all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs it and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!'” She said at the time as per People.

The couple became Instagram official in May 2016 after attending the Cannes Film Festival. However, by February 2017, they announced a breakup, though they maintained a friendship.

In April 2017, Bloom commented on their separation, saying, “We're friends, it's good. We're all grown up."

He continued, "She happens to be someone who is very visible, but I don't think anybody cares about what I'm up to. Nor should they. It's between us. It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate.”

Katy Perry adjusting to single motherhood while on tour with daughter Daisy

The former couple announced they were expecting their first child together in the music video for 'Never Worn White' in March 2020. This happened after Bloom got down on one knee in 2019 on Valentine's Day.

"He wanted it all to be special. He even asked for her parents' approval beforehand," a source said at the time.

Though they planned to marry in Japan in summer 2020, their wedding was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They welcomed Daisy Dove in August that year. Bloom also shares a son, Flynn, 14, with ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Despite the recent split, Perry remains on the move and is finding strength in motherhood.

“She’s happy and just focused on her tour. Her daughter is with her and they're sightseeing and having fun,” a source told People.

Another insider revealed Parry is navigating her new chapter with grace.

“She never saw herself being a single mom,” the source shared. “She’s felt a lot of pressure about her tour and now this. It’s been a lot for her. She’s still doing great though.”
