Katy Perry says 'a lot of people' thought she could not complete her tour

On Wednesday, September 2, Perry spoke with PEOPLE and hailed herself for completing the 91-show world tour despite a personal setback, as in April 2025 news broke that she and Bloom had broken up.

They went their separate ways in June that year. The ‘Dark Horse’ singer and the actor, 49, were together for almost ten years and share a 6-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove.

“A lot of people said I couldn’t do it and gave me a lot of flak — and I did it. Some people are like, ‘Cringe, cringe, cringe.’ But I’m living my f*****g life to the fullest!” Perry said.

Regarding the split from Bloom in the middle of the tour, the songwriter acknowledged, “It was probably the hardest time. My friends were all hanging out back home. I was crying and just feeling far away.”

As per the ‘Hot N Cold’ hitmaker, her angels, however, “went to work. They really showed up. I got to meet Justin on tour, and then things shifted.”

“I learned how to step back into my purpose. and I got the greatest gift from this tour: I got to meet the love of my life,” Perry added, referring to the former Prime Minister of Canada, who was earlier married to Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, and the two share three children together.

Katy Perry calls Justin Trudeau 'supportive and really heart-centered'

Further into the interview, the television personality told PEOPLE that she sees relationships as a teacher.

She explained, “I wouldn’t have stayed in something for nine years if there wasn’t really important things to learn. Each relationship is a teacher, right? I had to let it go so I could move forward.”

“I always wanted this epic legendary love, and I was talking to my therapist about it: Everything in my life is epic, but this is kind of the missing puzzle piece — then it showed up,” Perry shared, before adding that Trudeau “knows the words, he’s supportive, and he’s in awe; it’s super healing.”
