Katy Perry's space suit fuels conspiracy theory all-female Blue Origin mission was a 'satanic ritual'

VAN HORN, TEXAS: The headline-making 11-minute Blue Origin space mission featuring six prominent women has not just generated viral moments, but also bizarre conspiracy theories.
At the center of the speculation is a mysterious mission patch worn by Katy Perry and the five other crew members, which some internet users claim is tied to satanic symbolism and occult rituals.
The historic flight, which launched Monday from West Texas, included singer Katy Perry, mission leader and Jeff Bezos’ fiancee Lauren Sánchez, TV host Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn. While the mission aimed to spotlight women in space, the online discourse has taken a strange and unexpected turn.

Blue Origin mission patch faces conspiracy theories depicting it as a demonic figure
According to the Daily Mail, Blue Origin stated that the mission patch was carefully designed to include symbolic elements representing each of the six female crew members. However, online conspiracy theorists have taken a darker view, claiming the patch depicts a demonic figure.
At the center of the theory is Baphomet, a goat-headed deity often linked with occult symbolism, pagan rituals, and the Church of Satan. Critics allege that the patch’s layout and imagery bear a resemblance to this controversial figure.
In reality, Blue Origin’s official design features a rocket at its center, surrounded by personalized symbols such as a star, firework, film reel, shooting star, microphone, scales of justice, and even "Flynn the Fly". Notably, each is meant to represent a crew member’s personality or profession.
The women, including Katy Perry and mission leader Lauren Sanchez, wore sleek, body-hugging space suits designed by Sanchez herself. Sewn onto the left side of the suits, over the heart, was the now-controversial mission patch.
Fueling the online speculation further, some users pointed to footage showing Katy Perry placing her hand over the patch just after ringing the ceremonial bell before takeoff, interpreting the gesture as a symbolic part of an alleged ritual.
Others even referenced her 2011 music video for 'ET', in which she appears with goat-like legs - adding more fuel to the conspiracy fire.

What does Blue Origin's mission patch really mean?
View this post on Instagram
There is no credible evidence to support the claim that the Blue Origin mission patch was intentionally designed to resemble Baphomet.
In fact, the company has openly detailed the meaning behind each of the patch’s symbolic elements, all of which are meant to represent the individual crew members and their accomplishments.
For Katy Perry, a firework symbol was included to reflect her global influence in “music, pop culture, and philanthropy”. It also serves as a nod to her chart-topping anthem, "Firework."
Lauren Sanchez’s contribution is represented by Flynn the Fly — the main character from her children’s book — positioned in the top left of the patch.
The Instagram post of Blue Origin added, “The story is about the overcoming adversity, inspiring kids with learning differences to pursue their dreams."”
On the opposite side, a film reel honors filmmaker Kerianne Flynn’s passion for “filmmaking, storytelling, and crafting beautiful narratives."
Gayle King, a longtime CBS host, is symbolized by a microphone. It represents her “commitment to sharing important stories with the world.”
Civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen is represented by the scales of justice, a tribute to her advocacy work. A star was included to reflect former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe’s passion for science and exploration.
These carefully chosen symbols reflect the personal stories and achievements of the crew, not the occult imagery that some online conspiracy theorists have suggested.
