Keith Urban praises Miley Cyrus with bizarre 'compliment' before trashing upcoming country singers

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Country music artist Keith Urban compared the voice of 'Flowers' hitmaker Miley Cyrus to that of "an ashtray" in a recent interview.

During an appearance on Nova 96.9's 'Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie' on Thursday morning, September 5, the 56-year-old country music icon also lashed out at phony, "BS" pop artists who use country music to look real.

Australian rocker Keith Urban paid heartfelt respect to the Disney star with a bizarre "compliment" when asked about his experience as he has "performed with her before."

Speaking to co-host Ryan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald, Keith said, "I've always loved Miley. I love that voice, man, that voice…she sounds like an ashtray. And I mean that as a compliment. She sounds like the carpet at the RSL!"

Additionally, the musician unleashed his fury on phony, "BS" pop artists who use country music to look genuine while frequently demeaning Nashville's country music scene, per Daily Mail.

Keith remarked, "It's a funny thing because you still need the support of the system in Nashville and if you go about it the right way, like Post (Malone) did, you'll see the love."

When asked which younger artists are defying his expectations, Keith said, "They're just rootsy, authentic, storytelling people. They're legit. Aussies like legit. So Luke (Combs) is legit, Lainey Wilson is legit. Morgan Wallen's legit."

"I think a lot of people are sick of the BS with a lot of artists…what's real and what isn't," the country music star added.

Keith showed his love for his native Australia when he announced The High and Alive World Tour, which will commence in August of next year and include major cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane in addition to a few smaller communities.

Country music icon Keith said, "I'm always glad I do it. But I always forget to," in response to host Kyle Sandilands' question on if he loved getting pampered occasionally with a facial.

He disclosed that he likes to apply LED light therapy masks with Nicole and his two children, Sunday and Faith, to reduce wrinkles and encourage the development of new collagen.

Then Kyle marveled at how young Keith looked and acknowledged that he must be getting results from his expensive skincare routine. The radio host joked, "They obviously work better for you than me, you're very handsome!"

In a 2021 interview with InStyle, Nicole described Keith as a "pretty low-maintenance guy," but she enjoys spoiling him. "I'll treat my whole family to a spa day and massage their feet and give them pedicures," she added.
