Miley Cyrus becomes the youngest-ever Disney Legend
Sunday’s event turned into an emotional moment for Miley Cyrus as singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson introduced her while performing her own rendition of the ‘Hannah Montana’ title track ‘The Best of Both Worlds’.
Following her performance, Wilson told the pop diva, “Miley, I want to thank you for never being afraid to step outside the box, always staying true to yourself, and most importantly, always kicking butt," per Variety.
However, the moment was poignant enough to bring the ‘So Undercover’ star to tears, as she became emotional and broke down.

Wiping her tears, Cyrus addressed the audience, saying, “I’m gonna let everybody get on a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know.”
“And what I want to say, is that legends get scared, too. I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway, and all of you can do that every single day,” continued the ‘Wrecking Ball’ star.
She added, “It’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway. There is no such thing as failure when you try.”
During her speech, she went on to recall the process of how she was hired by Disney, sharing, “In 2005, Disney was on a mission to rebuild the company. That’s why they hired Bob Iger, and me.”
“I stand here still proud to have been ‘Hannah Montana,'” Cyrus said, adding, “This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality.”
She added, quoting a lyric from the ‘Hannah Montana’ song, “To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life.’”
At one point, she said, “In my heart I was Hannah Montana and I am so Proud, I stand here proud, she made my life magical."
Apart from Cyrus, costume designer Colleen Atwood, Angela Bassett, Disney Parks cast member Martha Blanding, James L Brooks, James Cameron, Jamie Lee Curtis, Marvel comic artist Steve Ditko, Harrison Ford, animator Mark Henn, Frank Oz, Kelly Ripa, imagineer Joe Rohde, and John Williams were also honored at the Disney Expo in Anaheim on Sunday.
In the past, Disney Legends have included Christina Aguilera, Stan Lee, Betty White, and Oprah Winfrey.
