Clarkson and Blackstock’s marriage ended after almost seven years of togetherness. They share two children —  9-year-old daughter River Rose, and son Remington Alexander, 7.

Things were not working between former couple

Last year in an interview with Apple Music, the TV personality shared, “We’ve got to let each other go. This is not working. This is not going to pan out, and it's not working for either of us.”

“And then we have two little kids watching us. And you don’t want to set that example,” she added.

Kelly Clarkson sues Brandon Blackstock

Meanwhile, though Clarkson and Blackstock’s divorce was finalized in 2022, they are still involved in a financial legal battle.

The ‘Broken & Beautiful’ singer has reportedly filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband and Starstruck Entertainment, a management company of his father Narvel Blackstock.

In her documents, she alleged that the 47-year-old producer defrauded her as well as made illegitimate deals while posing as her talent agent.

The complaint filed by Clarkson reportedly stated, “Based on the wrongful acts and conduct of Starstruck, as alleged hereinabove, including the violations of Sections 1700, et seq of the California Labor Code, the alleged Agreement, and all agreements between the parties, should be declared void and unenforceable, no monies should be paid by Cross-Complainants to Starstruck, and all monies previously paid by Cross-Complainants to Starstruck should be disgorged from Starstruck, forthwith.”

However, Blackstock's lawyer Bryan Freedman reportedly mentioned, “It is morally, ethically and legally wrong to attempt to get monies back from your ex-husband who not only helped her as her manager but who used those earnings on their children and Kelly and Brandon’s lifestyle during the marriage.”

Also, according to a 2020 lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court against Clarkson, "By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show."

"Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed," it added.
