WASHINGTON, DC: Kelsey Grammer didn’t hold back when he walked into the Kennedy Center Honors weekend, and you could tell his praise for Donald Trump came straight from the gut.

Speaking ahead of the State Department dinner on Saturday, the actor lit up when asked about the President, and it wasn’t long before he called Trump “extraordinary.

Grammer went on to praise Trump’s agenda, saying, “There are some things he still wants to get done, and I think that’s terrific, but there was a big hill to climb. And we were left with some very interesting things going on.”

His comments came just hours after Trump presided over a historic Oval Office ceremony where he presented the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees with newly redesigned medallions, created and donated by Tiffany & Co.

A star-powered class of honorees and rare Oval Office presentation

This year’s honoree lineup includes Sylvester Stallone, Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Michael Crawford and the members of KISS - Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley (posthumous).

The gathering marked the first time in Honors history that the official medal ceremony was held on camera inside the Oval Office.

Addressing the honorees, Trump described them as “incredible people” who represent “the very best in American arts and culture.”

He added, “This is a group of icons whose work and accomplishments have inspired, uplifted and unified millions and millions of Americans. This is perhaps the most accomplished and renowned class of Kennedy Center Honorees ever assembled.”

Grammer, who served on this year’s selection committee, was thrilled that Sylvester Stallone finally made the list. “He’s a force of nature,” Grammer said, adding that Stallone “has captured our imagination in several different roles and performed them beautifully.”

According to Grammer, “It was about time.”

Country legend George Strait echoed the excitement, telling the outlet, “It’s a great honor” to be recognized by the Kennedy Center Honors, a sentiment shared across the red carpet.

Tiffany & Co debuts a modernized Kennedy Center Honor medallion

One of the biggest visual changes at this year’s ceremony was the brand-new medal, replacing the classic rainbow ribbon used since 1978. The new version is a gold disc etched with the Kennedy Center’s image, surrounded by rainbow colors representing artistic disciplines.

The honoree’s name and ceremony date are engraved on the reverse, and the piece now hangs from a deep navy-blue ribbon.

Trump emphasized how significant the redesign was, noting that Tiffany & Co played a major role in shaping a fresh era for the Honors.
