Kendra Duggar’s family speaks out on Joseph Duggar’s arrest: ‘We are troubled and heartbroken’

TONTITOWN, ARKANSAS: Kendra Duggar’s family is finally speaking out as legal troubles surrounding her husband, Joseph Duggar, continue to unfold.

Nearly a month after Kendra and Joseph's respective arrests, the Caldwell family released a statement addressing the situation, making it clear they are struggling to process what has happened.

Kendra Duggar’s family shares emotional statement

In their statement, Kendra’s family did not hold back about how the situation has affected them.

“We are troubled and heartbroken over the alleged actions committed by our son-in-law,” they said.

They also expressed support for the young individual at the center of the case, calling her “courageous in every way to share her truth.”

The family stressed that they stand by her, adding, “We stand by her, both in support and prayer, and forever will.”

“Our love for this child remains at the forefront of our family’s priorities and minds,” they continued, praising her strength while also acknowledging the emotional weight of the situation.

Family calls for strength and compassion

Beyond their immediate response, the Caldwell family used the moment to speak more about courage and healing.

“We pray all victims of crimes can be as courageous as this young girl is,” they said.

They also stressed the importance of feeling safe enough to speak up, adding that people should be able to share their stories and trust the process “without fear of retaliation.”

At the same time, the family acknowledged how the situation has impacted their own loved ones.

“We also recognize how traumatic this incident has been for our grandchildren as well and continue to pray for their strength,” they said.

Despite everything, they made it clear that their support for Kendra has not changed. “Our love for them, and our daughter Kendra, remains,” the statement added.

Legal situation continues to unfold

The statement comes after Joseph Duggar was arrested on March 18 following an investigation in Florida.

Authorities said he admitted to certain actions during a phone call with a parent and a detective on March 17.

Separate from that case, both Joseph and Kendra are also facing additional charges in Arkansas.

According to officials, the charges stem from a search of their home conducted by local authorities and the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

A spokesperson for the family previously clarified that the charges against Kendra are unrelated to those her husband is facing.

“She’s not suspected or accused of participating in his alleged crime,” the spokesperson said.

Kendra was later released on bail, and the couple is scheduled to appear in court on April 29.

Duggar family responds and asks for privacy

Joseph’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, also addressed the situation earlier, describing themselves as “heartbroken over this entire situation.”

According to their spokesperson, the family is focused on supporting Kendra and her children during this time while also keeping those affected in their thoughts and prayers.

“Right now, they are focused on loving their family and helping Kendra and her children during this difficult time,” the statement read.

Kendra’s family expressed a similar sentiment in their own message, asking for privacy as they navigate the situation.

“The only way to freedom is to shine light in the darkness,” they said, adding that the support they have received from others has been a source of strength.

They concluded by thanking those who have reached out. “Thank you who have given in all the ways, through prayer, finances, time, energy and words of encouragement. We love you all.”
