LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kendrick Lamar received seven nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards, all for tracks that subtly or directly address his ongoing beef with Drake.

Among the nominated songs are 'Not Like Us' and Future and Metro Boomin's 'Like That', both featuring Kendrick, and fans are running wild with jokes and memes, taking jabs at the Toronto rapper.

Grammy nominations fuel Drake-Kendrick Lamar beef

In May, Kendrick Lamar dropped the diss track 'Not Like Us' which throws shade at Drake. The song fanned the flames of Lamar and Drake’s rivalry and it became a smash hit.

After Kendrick got seven Grammy nominations for the 2025 award show, fans took to social media to reference Drake’s 2023 diss track 'Family Matters', pointing out how one lyric seems to have predicted Kendrick’s Grammy success.

“Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now,” Drake rapped in 'Family Matters', a line that fans say is hitting differently in the light of Kendrick’s seven Grammy nods.

While neither artist has responded publicly, the reactions of fans have been swift and unforgiving. Many are using the situation to argue that Kendrick’s lyrics and values resonate in ways that have kept him at the forefront of the industry, while some shared hilarious reactions.

One user shared, "That “Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a Grammy right now” line was pure 100% projection from Drake lol."

In a recent Harper’s Bazaar interview with SZA, Lamar shed light on the deeper meaning behind the Drake diss track 'Not Like Us', explaining that it’s about standing for something real.

He explained, "Not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent. Now, if you identify with the man that I represent."

"This man has morals, he has values, he believes in something, he stands on something. He’s not pandering."

"He’s a man who can recognize his mistakes and not be afraid to share the mistakes and can dig deep down into fear-based ideologies or experiences to be able to express them without feeling like he’s less of a man. If I’m thinking of 'Not Like Us,' I’m thinking of me and whoever identifies with that," Lamar went on.

Kendrick Lamar’s 'Not Like Us' scores big at 2025 Grammy nominations

Kendrick Lamar’s explosive track 'Not Like Us,' a direct shot at longtime rival Drake, has secured five Grammy nominations, making waves in the 2025 Grammy lineup. Among the accolades, the hit is up for Song and Record of the Year, Best Rap Song and Performance, and Best Music Video, giving Kendrick a chance at multiple wins.

The nominations come as no surprise given 'Not Like Us' has dominated the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart for 21 consecutive weeks, even reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 upon release, as reported by TMZ.

Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar's 'Like That' is nominated for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Perfromance.

Adding to the excitement, Kendrick will headline the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, setting the stage for an epic live rendition of the Grammy-nominated track.

While fans look forward to Kendrick's Super Bowl performance, they are also excited for the February 2 Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, just a week before his halftime show debut.
