In 2013, the Jonas Brothers shocked fans by announcing their split, citing creative differences and personal tensions.
Kevin now reveals that ego played a significant role in the decision. "I think there used to be [ego], and I think that's what broke up the band," he admitted. "But now we've come back, and it's just like, whatever works for everyone," he added.
The brothers’ reconciliation six years later marked a fresh chapter for the band, and Kevin credits the new dynamic for their ability to balance collective and individual pursuits.
Solo ventures amidst a unified band
Since the reunion, Joe and Nick Jonas have explored solo music projects alongside their work as a band.
Earlier this year, Joe Jonas, 35, teased his upcoming album, 'Music for People Who Believe in Love', which includes singles like 'Work It Out' and 'What's It Gonna Be'.
Meanwhile, Nick, 32, recently teased “some new vibes” on Instagram.
Kevin praises the flexibility that allows each brother to pursue solo ventures while maintaining the band’s harmony.
“The thing about us, which I think is really fun, is there's no rules,” he said, noting that “Anyone and everyone can do music, and then we can do it together and we can do it separate.”
This openness has been pivotal for the band’s longevity, fostering a creative environment free from the conflicts that led to their split a decade ago.
“That’s what's so dynamic and cool about us,” Kevin explained.
Kevin Jonas’ future plans
While Kevin Jonas has yet to release solo music, he is not ruling it out.
“It just has to be the right thing,” he said, adding, “I’ve always talked about doing something, but it just hasn’t been the right time for me yet.”
Outside of music, Kevin has found success in television, co-hosting the competition series 'Claim to Fame' with the youngest Jonas sibling, Franklin.
The show, which has run for three seasons, has been a unique opportunity for him to branch out beyond music.
The singer said he is hopeful for another season of the hit show.

“It is the 20-year anniversary of the band — which is making me feel two things: very excited and also very old,” he joked.
While Kevin remains tight-lipped about specific plans, he assured, “For us, it would never just be a celebration of the past. It’ll always be looking towards the future.”
