Khloe Kardashian claims therapist leaked ‘private’ info about her to tabloid: ‘I did not trust anybody’
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Khloe Kardashian — who has returned to therapy at her sister Kim's insistence — has opened up about how her former counselor allegedly violated doctor-patient privilege amid her divorce from Lamar Odom.
Speaking in an interview with Bustle, published on Tuesday, December 3, the 'Kardashians' star talked candidly about how she stopped attending therapy sessions entirely after a former therapist gave a tabloid access to her "private" information.
Khloe Kardashian faced 'trust' issues after therapist leaked 'private' information to tabloid
The Good American co-founder disclosed that she began using exercise to address her mental health issues following an alleged violation of doctor-patient privilege by her former counselor during her divorce from the former NBA player, 45.
"I remember I was going to therapy and the next thing I knew, something private I told my therapist was on a tabloid," Khloe recalled to Bustle.
She was going through a divorce at the time from Odom, whom she married in 2009 and split from in 2013 due to his infidelity and addiction struggle, per Page Six.
Khloe, 40, stressed that her therapist was the only person who could have provided the information, even though she did not reveal the precise details of the leak.
"And I knew that my therapist disclosed this information to a tabloid because there’s no way this could have gotten out there," she said.
Khloe ended the therapy sessions after feeling deceived by her therapist, ostensibly to stop more of her personal information from being revealed.
However, she was traumatized by the experience and decided to forego therapy entirely. She decided to replace it with gym sessions as she thought it would be a safer place for her.
She explained, "I stopped going to therapy and started going to the gym. I needed a release, but I did not trust anybody else anymore. And the place that I felt the safest was the gym."
She continued by calling the experience "very jarring and sort of unbelievable", before reaffirming her belief that her therapist disclosed her personal information.
"There's not a chance in the world that it came from anywhere else," Khloe said regarding the encounter.
Khloe Kardashian started visiting Kim Kardashian's 'lovely' therapist at 39
The Good American founder said she "felt the safest" at the gym and revealed that she now sees her older sister Kim Kardashian's therapist after Skims founder "was really adamant" about it.
Khloe told Bustle, "I started when I was 39," adding that her new physician is "really lovely."
"I dragged my feet, and then I was like, 'Wow, OK, this is good. I needed this.' And my therapist was like, 'I think you should come three days a week.' She was like, 'You really need to be here,'" the reality star added.
The 'Revenge Body' alumnus had a lot to process after holding things inside for years. Khloe claimed that with the support of her therapist, her 40s have fulfilled all of her expectations.
"When you’re young, you think 40 is so old, and now I’m like, ‘Wait — I feel so good!'" she remarked. "I am in the best shape of my life. I’m doing new career stuff. I’ve only been 40 for about six months, but it’s the absolute best."
The aspiring podcast host claimed that she just doesn't "give a s**t" about some of the issues that used to cause her anxiety.
She clarified, "Intentionally, at 39, I tried to close a lot of chapters. I called it ‘shedding’ — shedding this decade of my 30s and this energy I wanted to leave behind."
"There are so many new things that I’m doing in my first year of 40 that I know for a fact my 40s and on are going to be f***ing incredible," Khloe said.
Khloe Kardashian's 'body started changing' after hitting the gym
On the plus side, Khloe's body has changed in ways she is still grateful for thanks to years of working out at the gym. "As a byproduct, my body started changing," she said.
The reality star, who has previously said "working out is my therapy," exclaimed, "I loved the way I felt. I loved testing myself and challenging myself. And I've been doing it for 10-plus years now, and I love it."
Not surprisingly, the physical changes Khloe has undergone have prompted both praise and the typical conspiracy theories that she underwent surgery to get the appearance.
"Over the past three years, people are like, 'You must have gotten surgery because you just lost weight.' I'm like, 'It's been a 10-year journey! What are you talking about?'" Khloe said.
