PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Kid Rock’s latest round of golf with Donald Trump is making waves, not for his swing, but for what he wore on the course.

The rocker, 54, shared a photo on X earlier this week showing him riding alongside Trump, 79, in a golf cart during a recent outing. While the president appeared dressed by the book, Kid Rock’s outfit quickly became the focal point online, with critics calling out what they viewed as a clear breach of golf etiquette.

In the image, Trump is seated in the driver’s seat of the cart wearing a collared golf shirt and a matching MAGA hat, the standard attire for a day on the green. Kid Rock, however, opted for a sleeveless tank top, dark shorts, and Nike sneakers, a look that immediately raised eyebrows.BEDMINSTER, NEW JERSEY - JULY 28: Former U.S. President Donald Trump looks on during the pro-am prior to the LIV Golf Invitational - Bedminster at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster on July 28, 2022 in Bedminster, New Jersey. “Golfed with your favorite President again recently and he played me a live version of James Brown and Pavirotti performing 'This Is a Man’s World' - can’t believe I have never heard this. Incredible!” Kid Rock wrote in his Monday post.

While the musician appeared to be referring to famed opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, it was his wardrobe, not his playlist, that drew the most attention.

Golf etiquette clash draws attention online

Traditional golf etiquette requires male players to wear collared shirts, a standard enforced at many private clubs. Trump’s own golf properties are no exception.

According to guest policies at Trump National Golf Club, “men are required to wear shirts with collars and sleeves.”

The rules go on to state that the club “does not allow tee shirts, midriff tops, swimwear, cover ups, cut-offs, warm-up suits, sweatpants, or athletic shorts while using golf or dining facilities.”

Despite those clear guidelines, Kid Rock appeared to receive a pass - something that did not go unnoticed by fans and critics alike.

Fans notice, but many approve anyway

Social media users were quick to point out the apparent violation, but the reaction was largely approving among Kid Rock’s supporters. Many praised the singer for staying true to his laid-back, rebellious image, even in the company of the president.

One user on X commented, "Only you could get away with wearing a beater on the golf course. Love it!!"

Another said, "But Trump must love you if he puts up with you in that golf attire!!! With all love towards Kid."

Another added, "You’re supposed to wear a collared shirt lol."

One commented, "You know darn well you’re supposed to wear a collared shirt, young man.  "

One user quipped, "You golf with the President, and you wear a wife -beater?"

Another said, "Playing golf in a wife beater t-shirt with the President is so……_"

Another user added, "Show some respect on the golf course. wear a collared shirt. Thank me later."

Others joked that if anyone could bend the rules at a Trump golf course, it would be one of Trump’s most outspoken celebrity allies.

The exact time and location of the photo were not disclosed, though Trump is known to frequent his Florida courses.

Kid Rock knows the rules and has followed them before

Interestingly, this is not Kid Rock’s first time golfing with Trump and past outings show he is well aware of traditional golf attire.

In 2019, the musician was photographed on the course wearing a white collared shirt layered under a red sweater vest, paired with bold American flag-themed pants.

The following year, when the duo teed off again, Kid Rock reverted to a more casual look, wearing a standard t-shirt instead of a polo, a move that raised fewer eyebrows at the time.
