Kid Rock grills Gavin Newsom over X post claiming he endorsed California governor

WASHINGTON, DC: Musician and prominent Donald Trump supporter Kid Rock took a jab at California Governor Gavin Newsom as his press office account used an AI image of the musician to claim he endorsed the governor.

Interestingly, Newsom and his team have been posting similar trolling messages, and in some cases, almost identical to Trump’s, right down to the all-caps texts and use of AI images.

Kid Rock lashes out at Gavin Newsom

Kid Rock re-shared the X post by Gavin Newsom's office and wrote, "The only support Gavin Newscum will ever get out of me is from DEEZ NUTZ."

The post shared by the California Governor's office had an AI-generated image of Kid Rock along with the text, "Kid Rock wants you to support Gavin Newsom."

The post was a reference to Trump last year sharing an AI image of pop icon Taylor Swift to falsely claim that she had endorsed him.

Meanwhile, many right-wing figures who celebrate Trump are offended by Newsom’s political performance art, including Fox News hosts and, now, Kid Rock.

Interestingly, when Swift endorsed former Vice President Kamala Harris instead of Trump, the POTUS wrote, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!"

Similarly, Newsom offered the same response to Kid Rock and wrote, "I HATE KID ROCK !!! — GCN."

The account added a follow-up mimicking another Trump post on Swift and wrote, "HAS ANYONE NOTICED THAT SINCE I SAID “I HATE KID ROCK” HE'S NO LONGER 'HOT?' — GCN."

Kid Rock has been a prominent supporter of President Trump for a long time. The musician performed during the 2024 Republican National Convention. 

Meanwhile, in June 2025, Trump gave a shoutout to the musician's brand-new restaurant, The Detroit Cowboy, which proudly sports the slogan — "Go where you’re celebrated, not tolerated."

Trump wrote on Truth Social, "Congratulations to my friend, Kid Rock (I call him Bob!), on the Grand Opening of his new Nashville restaurant, 'The Detroit Cowboy.' I hear it is a very friendly MAGA establishment, and look forward to going there sometime soon."

Internet divided over Kid Rock's X post

People on the internet stayed divided and shared mixed reactions as Kid Rock took a jab at Gavin Newsom as his press office account used an AI image of the musician to claim he endorsed the Governor.

A user wrote on X, "If he didn’t have a villain origin story already, he has one now !" while one added, "Hahaha this dummy fell for it."

Another person also stated, "Nobody ever accused you of being intelligent," whereas one mentioned, "Thank god it's official."

A user also wrote, "That’s exactly the amount of intellectual ability to respond i would expect from Kid Rock," while one commented, "Thank you Kid Rock."
