Kid Rock slammed for flirting with BBC journo during inauguration interview: 'Such blatant disrespect'
PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Self-proclaimed “American Bada**" Kid Rock sparked some serious backlash ahead of Donald Trump’s inauguration—and no, it wasn’t on stage.
The 'Bawitdaba' singer used a pre-Inauguration Day interview to turn up the charm on BBC journalist Caitríona Perry. However, his flirting tactics didn't sit well with many.
Kid Rock flirts with BBC journalist
In clips shared online, the rocker couldn’t help himself during an interview about his performance at Donald Trump’s victory rally. Things took a turn when he asked Caitríona Perry, “What about you? What are you doing? Where you at?”
After Perry quipped that he was probably having more fun than she was, Kid Rock—real name Robert James Ritchie—took a puff of his cigar and responded: “I can’t see you right now, so I don’t know what you look like.”
Perry then giggled awkwardly and tried to steer the conversation by describing herself as “ready to hit the slopes” in full-on ski gear to brave Washington, DC’s cold. But Kid Rock wasn’t done yet. Instead, he doubled down with this eyebrow-raising response: “I love to go skiing. You sound sexy—do you want to go with me?”
Perry once again laughed it off with a professional pivot: “Well, we won’t get into that right here! We’re doing no skiing here, we’ve got a day of broadcasting to do.”
Kid Rock slammed on social media
Unsurprisingly, the rocker's flirty antics didn’t sit well with critics online, many of whom called him out for what they saw as unprofessional and cringeworthy behavior.
"Jesus Christ, Kid Rock on BBC News borderline sexually harassing a reporter saying she 'sounded sexy' but he 'couldn’t see what you look like but I can imagine it' Can’t believe I ever supported that POS," one posted on X.
"I can't believe I just listened to Kid Rock just perv over a journalist on the BBC, gotta be one of the most awkward things I've listened to in years," another user wrote.
"Unbelievable! At Trump's inauguration, Kid Rock called BBC reporter Caitriona Perry 'sexy' and asked her to go skiing. Such blatant disrespect on a historic day! When will these so-called 'celebrities' learn to behave?" another asked.
"The secondhand embarrassment makes me want to crawl into a ball. What was that!?!" read a comment.
"Doesn't Kid Rock have a steady girlfriend who lives in one of his many estates?? Sounds like a load of BS coming out of Bob's mouth ! Lol," someone else noted.
"Perhaps he has started on the celebratory drinks too early," another chimed in.

Kid Rock is a MAGA rockstar at Donald Trump’s rally
While the flirting fiasco made headlines, Kid Rock was in DC for a much different reason—performing at Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again rally alongside Carrie Underwood. The event kicked off Trump’s inauguration celebrations.
The rocker and Trump share a well-documented bromance. Kid Rock has called Trump a “great friend” and one of his “besties,” a bond that reportedly began in 2017 during a White House meeting organized by Sarah Palin. That sit-down — which included fellow rocker Ted Nugent — marked the start of a friendship that only grew stronger over the years.
By 2022, Rock was gushing about their unlikely camaraderie during an interview on 'Tucker Carlson Tonight': “We ended up becoming buddies. [We] spend a lot of time [together] at the golf course now. It’s really weird to get phone calls from him and stuff. It’s kind of mind-blowing.”
Trump, in turn, has publicly praised Kid Rock. During his nomination acceptance speech, Trump called him “amazing” and admitted he was surprised by the musician’s popularity. “Everyone loves him. I didn’t even know how big he was," he said.
The inauguration rally wrapped up with a performance from Trump favorites the Village People, whose hit 'YMCA” became an unofficial anthem for Trump’s 2024 campaign. The song famously spawned the viral “Trump dance," the New York Post reported.
