Killer Mike says he 'was just by myself' while he was detained
The arrest took place shortly after his wins, including best rap album, during the pre-telecast ceremony.
In an interview with GQ, the Atlanta rapper said that during his three-hour detention following the dramatic arrest at the ceremony, he was in conversation with his higher power.
"I was just by myself, and I was just thankful," said Mike. "I took time to thank God and to say, 'I appreciate the blessings you've given me.' I spent time talking," he continued.
"I'm invoking the spirit of my grandmother and my mother and just saying, 'Look, I've done it.' ... And I was glad that I had used those three hours to be thankful to God and to be calm and to meditate," the rapper added.

Mike, who is also an activist, remained resilient and was released on his own recognizance a few hours after his arrest. "I got out and I went partied and had fun," he said.
Killer Mike says he 'could have succumbed to anger or evil' after arrest
A day after his arrest, Mike received the news that his son, Pony Boy, whom he shares with wife Shana had been approved for kidney transplant three years after being on the list.
"I can just truly tell you that, God is real," said the rapper.
"And the same way Christ gave us an example of being by himself, of being tempted by Satan, I understand that a lot better now because I could have succumbed to anger or evil and talked s**t. But I'm just grateful," Mike continued.
"I'm grateful, not only that I won, but I'm grateful that God showed me within 24 hours that there's something more important than even the accolades you've worked for," he added.
"And that's my family and my child and I'm just thankful. I thank Him," he further said.
