Kim Kardashian is in power struggle with Kris Jenner as she demands respect for family's 'pampered lives'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian has been outgrowing her family in terms of wealth and influence for some time, and she is currently attempting to drive out momager Kris Jenner in a power struggle to become the clan's queen.
The 43-year-old SKIMS founder reportedly believes she should be treated with more respect than she now receives, particularly from 68-year-old mother Kris, per Radar Online.
Kim Kardashian wants to outgrow momager Kris Jenner and gain 'more respect'
Kim Kardashian, 43, has been busy lately stepping away from reality television. Besides being a business wizard and reality star, the lawyer-in-training is now an advocate for criminal justice.
She recently met with Gypsy-Rose Blanchard—who was sentenced to eight years in jail for orchestrating the murder of her mother, Dee Dee—and paid a visit to Erik and Lyle Menendez in prison, who were convicted of killing their parents, following the release of the latest episode of Ryan Murphy's 'Monsters' series.
"Kim has always insisted she's the hardest-working member of the family, and it's hard to ignore her claim since she's now risen to a different level than the rest of them," a source revealed.
"It's all a lot more prestigious than what any of her sisters are doing," the source said, comparing Kim to her siblings, Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner.
The Kardashian sisters have already dabbled in real acting, most notably Kourtney Kardashian in 'He's All That', but Kim will play a lawyer at an all-female law practice in the upcoming courtroom drama 'All's Fair', opposite women like Naomi Watts and Glenn Close.
Next comes a documentary on her Hollywood idol, Elizabeth Taylor. Kim will serve as the executive producer of the BBC show 'Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar'.
Given everything she has on her plate, the insider claimed Kim "doesn’t feel like she gets enough credit from her family for taking them along on this ride with her."
"She resents how entitled they are and thinks they should be thanking her daily for their pampered lives. But they don’t really show her much respect, and she wants that to change," the source added, per OK! Magazine.
Kim apparently aspires to take over the family's brand, which has always been led by mother Kris. "In her view, she should be the boss of them all and she’s now on this mission to step into her power," the insider revealed.
That means displacing her mother as the family's leader, and Kris is reportedly not happy about that. According to the source, Kris feels Kim needs to give her more credit.
"She’s fighting back and demanding Kim show more respect to her, it’s turned into this battle between them and making things very uncomfortable for everyone around them," the source said.
Kim Kardashian reportedly 'broadening her horizons' with new projects
Although Kim Kardashian is devoted to her next courtroom drama 'All's Fair', her well-known family franchise would have much less time as a result.
The new legal drama is an ideal match for the reality star, who had collaborated on 'American Horror Story' with the show's powerful producer, Ryan Murphy.
A different source previously told Life and Style, "Kim is broadening her horizons and banking on her fruitful relationship with TV producer Ryan Murphy to become a full-blown dramatic actress."
Apart from her ambitions to become an actress, Kim is also pursuing her interest in the late Elizabeth Taylor, whom the SKIMS founder said she was "always drawn to."
Kim was purportedly the final individual to interview the legendary actress before she died in 2011.
"We were actually supposed to meet up for tea at her house, and then she fell ill. We were talking about fighting for people. She understood her power and her beauty," Kim said at the time.
