Kim Kardashian loses 150K Insta followers within hours of posting Melania Trump's photo from inauguration
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian was unfollowed by many fans social media followers after the billionaire businesswoman shared a picture of first lady Melania Trump on the inauguration day.
Kardashian, one of the most followed people on Instagram, boasts a whopping following of 358 million on Instagram.
However, according to Socially Powerful, a social media marketing agency, as reported by the New York Post, Kardashian, 44, lost by at least 150,000 followers after she showed her support to President Donald Trump’s wife.
Kim Kardashian lost fans after showing support for Melania
Kardashian, the reality TV mogul, recently surprised several fans after she posted an image of Melania Trump arriving at the inauguration venue on January 20.
The SKIMS founder, who is a fashionista herself, appeared to praise the statement dressing of the Slovenian-born first lady who wore a custom dress from New York-based designer Adam Lippes and a coordinating hat by Eric Javits.
The mother-of-four shared an image of the former supermodel and Donald Trump’s wife emerging from a vehicle on her Instagram Stories.
Soon, Kardashian’s social media posts were flooded with comments where the disgruntled users declared they were unfollowing the reality star over her support of Melania.
The analyzing firm Socially Powerful’s recent findings revealed that all of the warnings were not fluff as Kardashian’s follower count indeed got reduced by almost 150k.
The website revealed, as reported by the New York Post, that Kardashian’s follower count has decreased by 144,963 since the photo was uploaded.
She also lost 9,553 followers on X, after Melania’s photo was posted.
While Kim Kardashian’s political inclinations are not known, the outlet reveals the reality star is believed to support the Democrats. However, Kardashian has long been friends with the Trumps, even seeking help from her long-time friend Ivanka Trump to lobby her father to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, of a Black woman convicted of a nonviolent drug offense.
She also met with Donald Trump in 2010 during a press event and continued her advocacy in prison reforms by participating in White House discussions during Trump’s first administration.
Social media users let Kim Kardashian know that they are leaving
Social media users soon flocked to Kardashian's social media post to let her know that they were unfollowing her.
One of the users wrote on an Instagram post of Kardashian wishing her daughter Chicago on her birthday, wrote, "Guys unfollow, don’t watch their show and don’t buy their products. Hit them where it hurts."
Someone else also reminded her that she did not make a commemorative post on National Day of Service, a federal holiday in honor of late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., writing, "You post Melania but not Martin. 🚮."
"You get more disappointing every day," said someone else.
Another user penned, "Kim, I’ve supported you for so long and now this Melania s**t?? Smh."
"You posted Melania but not MLK?!!!🚮," said someone else on another post of Kardashian.
"So disappointed in you Kim smh," added another fan.
Someone else declared, "Unfollowed."
