King Charles' decision to pause cancer treatment for 11 days during overseas trip worries royal fans
LONDON, UK: King Charles III has decided to pause his cancer treatment for 11 days to undertake a high-profile visit to Australia, The Daily Beast reported on Monday, October 7.
According to the publication, the treatment is considered to be a part of the weekly regimen of the 75-year-old monarch, who was diagnosed in February 2024. The Buckingham Palace is yet to disclose what type of cancer he is suffering from, and what form of therapy he is taking.
King Charles would 'pick up' his treatment after visit to Australia
Charles will be leaving for Australia with his wife, Queen Consort Camilla, on October 18. The Daily Mail reported that doctors have cleared him to take 11 days off from his treatment, stating that the king would “continue with his ongoing cancer treatment right up until he flies.”
He would “pick up” his treatment “as soon as he returns to the UK” after the 30,000-mile round trip, added the publication. A traveling doctor will be accompanying the King and Queen throughout the trip.
While in Australia, the king would be visiting Sydney and Canberra, following which he would move on to Samoa. He is scheduled to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in the South Pacific nation.
King Charles' reason for overseas trip while fighting cancer
The king's mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II believed that the monarch has to be “seen to be believed." Charles follows the same principle. As a result, he has sought to keep up appearances at high-profile events throughout the year.
While traveling around in London, even for his cancer treatment, Charles often took ceremonial cars with large windows, so that he may be photographed.
The Australia trip is considered to be a prime example of how the palace staff is planning to keep the king in the public eye while being considerate of his health.

"Stop this nonsense. Sensible people take time to heal and focus on their health. No Commitment to duty requires anyone to stop their medical treatment. This is idiotic," expressed a fourth.
