Kristin Cavallari calls ex Jay Cutler a 'pathological liar', slams their co-parenting in candid interview
FRANKLIN, TENNESSEE: Kristin Cavallari is no stranger to airing her truths, and her recent appearance on the 'Dumb Blonde' podcast proved to be no exception.
The 37-year-old former reality star held nothing back, discussing her tumultuous relationship with ex-husband Jay Cutler, from branding Cutler a "pathological liar" to reflecting on her definition of success.
Kristin Cavallari opens up about 'toxic' marriage to Jay Cutler
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler share three children—sons Camden (12), Jaxon (10), and daughter Saylor (9)—and have been navigating co-parenting since their 2020 split after seven years of marriage.
While their divorce was finalized in June 2022, Cavallari revealed their post-marriage relationship has been a "bumpy road."
During the conversation, the reality star revealed that her ex-husband is bringing “zero f**king consistency” to their co-parenting dynamic. "Co-parenting is so up and down," she admitted, before calling their past romance "toxic."

She didn't mince words about Cutler's behavior during their marriage: "When you're dealing with a pathological liar, it's hard to know what the f*****g truth is."
Cavallari also addressed rumors of an affair between Cutler and her former 'Very Cavallari' co-star Kelly Henderson, hinting at the possibility that something might have happened.
"I really don't think anything happened. F**k, I don't know how to be honest with you. Do I know for sure? No."
Adding to her suspicion, Kristin explained, "Jay used to trash her, which I sort of think if a guy is trashing a girl, there is probably something going on."
Cavallari revealed her frustration with Kelly's response to the rumors. "I said something to her, and it blew up in my face. When people can't take any accountability and turn it around and throw it in your face—I can't do that," she said.
Accountability, she noted, is "so f*****g huge."
Kristin Cavallari on forgiveness, inner peace, and rebuilding her life
Despite the unresolved issues, Kristin Cavallari has found a way to move forward.
"I never got an apology, and I never will. But you have to do it for you. You have to forgive them because, at the end of the day, people who are lying to you, cheating, or whatever the situation may be, that's because they're hurt. That has nothing to do with me."
She emphasized the importance of empathy, sharing, "I forgive Kelly, I forgive Jay for anything he did... anyone in my life, my dad even. I have empathy for my dad because I understand why he is the way he is. I can have empathy and forgive these people and still not have them in my life. Those two things can co-exist."
After the dust settled, Cavallari focused on rebuilding her life. "Success, I think, is inner peace," she said.
"When your whole life has not been peaceful, I value it so much. And I feel lucky that I've been able to curate my life to exactly what I want."
Cavallari credited her business ventures, including her jewelry brand 'Uncommon James' and her podcast 'Let’s Be Honest,' for giving her the freedom to live on her own terms.
"If I want to take a week off and go f**k around, I can, and that for me is heaven. I feel very, very, very lucky."
Divorce regrets after Kristin Cavallari's marriage with Jay Cutler ended
Coming from a family of divorce, Kristin Cavallari admitted that splitting from Jay Cutler was not something she ever wanted.
"That still will creep up once in a while... it just sucks that we're not together as a family."
However, she made peace with the decision, saying, "There are things from my marriage that I will never know, and I just sort of had to let it go. I'm over it now; that’s probably why I can talk about it so freely now."
Cavallari also revealed that after their initial separation, she and Cutler attempted to rekindle their relationship.
"It was a trauma bond reaction to try to make it work with someone from a 'toxic' relationship before I stepped back from it and worked on myself," she revealed.
