NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kylie Jenner faced backlash after releasing a promo video showing herself handcuffed and escorted by men dressed as police officers in a jail-like setting.

She launched the video to revive her bold “King Kylie” era from a decade ago, but the timing drew sharp criticism. As ICE raids and “No Kings” protests continue across the US, many accused Jenner of glamorizing police imagery and ignoring the national mood.

Kylie Jenner, 28, has actively promoted her upcoming Kylie Cosmetics collection by rolling out a series of teasers that reference her iconic “King Kylie” phase from ten years ago. On Saturday, October 11, she released a 15-second video showing her handcuffed and walking down a dimly lit hallway flanked by two men in fake police uniforms.

To build hype for the launch, Jenner revisited her early aesthetic—vibrant wigs, bold brows, smokey eyes, and overlined lips—and appeared in another clip wearing a tiny black bra, micro shorts, and sheer black tights.

On Sunday, October 12, she announced a follow-up to her viral 2016 “Glosses” video, writing, “GLOSSES PART 2: KING KYLIE RETURNS! on Snapchat now for the first 24 hours! (obviously). It only felt right to launch my King Kylie collection with a part 2 to my video with @colinseyes and @terror.jr from 10 YEARS AGO!”

Outrage erupts online over Kylie Jenner's police-themed promo

Critics called Kylie Jenner ‘out of touch’ for using police imagery during ICE raids.

A Redditor shared, "The country’s boiling over, citizens being dragged off by rogue badge hungry rent-a-cops, and Kylie Jenner drops a handcuffed hot-pants photoshoot to promote COSMETICS. This isn’t satire; it’s American rot.

Another commented, "She is out of touch.'Someone else mentioned her sister Kendall Jenner's controversial 2017 Pepsi ad, in which the model quelled a police confrontation by presenting a can of soda."

An X user wrote, "Can you use your platform for ONCE to bring awareness to the world you EXPLOIT?? KING KYLIE, READ THE ROOM! THERES NO KINGS RALLIES GOING ON ACROSS THE WORLD and you choose to post this bullshit. I hate this world and the billionaires in it!!"

One commenter said, "Weird flex when ICE are kidnapping people. Poor taste as usual."

One Redditor suggested, "I think it’s intentional, after they saw how Sydney Sweeney got so much attention with the American Eagle ad. Shock value holds so much weight in marketing."

A person dubbed, "This one is actually gross." Someone else wrote, "This is so unbelievably tone deaf. PEOPLE ARE BEING DISAPPEARED TO CONCENTRATION CAMPS AND DYING, KIM KYLIE ."
