LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kylie Jenner is no stranger to public scrutiny, but her recent attempts to address the wildfire devastation in California have landed her in hot water.

After she shared a heartfelt statement about relief efforts for those affected by the fires, critics quickly pointed out the irony of her words in light of her excessive private jet use.

Kylie Jenner's private jet took off eight times since the LA wildfires began on January 7

Kylie Jenner, who recently traveled to Paris with her boyfriend, Timothee Chalamet, has come under fire for the frequent use of her Bombardier Global 7500 jet.

This year alone, the 27-year-old's jet has completed 11 flights, with four of them lasting less than an hour.

Among these was a startlingly short 15-minute trip between Los Angeles and Camarillo, California, emitting one ton of CO2 and burning 120 gallons of jet fuel.

According to reports, these flights have collectively emitted an estimated 162 tons of CO2, equivalent to the electricity use of 33 homes for a year.

Notably, Jenner's private jet took off eight times since the wildfires began on January 7, contributing significantly to her growing carbon footprint.

On January 16, the same day her jet completed three flights, Jenner took to Instagram via her Kylie Cosmetics account to pledge support for fire victims.

"We are truly heartbroken to see the devastation caused by the fires in Los Angeles. Watching so many people forced to evacuate and hearing the stories of those who have lost everything is deeply saddening and difficult to comprehend," the post read.

The company promised to donate skincare, body, hair, and makeup products to aid those impacted.

However, critics were quick to highlight the dissonance between her philanthropic gesture and her environmental impact.

Kylie Jenner flew 195 times in her private jet in 2024

Kylie Jenner's lavish $72 million jet, Kylie Air, which she bought in 2020, has become a symbol of the climate hypocrisy often associated with celebrity lifestyles.

Despite ongoing public pressure on stars like her sister Kim Kardashian to reduce emissions, Jenner's jet-setting habits remain prolific.

In 2024, she reportedly took 195 flights in her private jet, cementing her status as a frequent flier in the skies of excess.

Most recently, Jenner flew to London to support Chalamet at the premiere of his Bob Dylan biopic, 'A Complete Unknown'.

In stark contrast to Jenner's jet-setting, Chalamet arrived at the event on a Lime bike, opting for a sustainable mode of transport.

The couple then flew 47 minutes to Paris, emitting four tons of CO2—nearly six times the environmental cost of a Eurostar train ticket for the same journey.

This isn’t the first time Jenner has been called out for her environmental impact.

In 2022, she sparked outrage for a 12-minute private jet flight that covered just 26 miles—a journey that would have taken 39 minutes by car.

Jenner isn’t alone in facing public scrutiny. Other celebrities, including pop star Taylor Swift and Jenner's sister, Kim Kardashian, have also been criticized for their excessive use of private jets.

Swift was named the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter of 2022, while Kardashian has faced backlash for her flying habits despite promoting eco-conscious messaging.

Internet calls Kylie Jenner a 'climate criminal' for excessive private jet use

Kylie Jenner’s recent statement on aiding relief efforts for the devastating Los Angeles wildfires has sparked controversy, with critics accusing the beauty mogul of hypocrisy.

One expressed, "Like so many of these wealthy celebrities they continue to live the high life with no respect for the general public or the planet. They will preach about climate change to others but make no effort to reduce their own emissions."

Following suit, another observed, "But they tell us that WE (the people who can only afford public transport and no holidays) are the reason for climate change."

"No surprise, people that have an abundance of money and resources generally don't care about anything or anyone but themselves, not all of course, but quite a few," another comment read.

One more wrote, "Celebs like to send messages telling the public what & how to do it. They know they will be called out for their own doings but it keeps them on the front pages...."

"It would be so great to hear that a celeb took their vast wealth and instead of buying private jets, they bought a fleet of firefighting planes, so that when this happens again--and it will--they could hire pilots to fly those planes and help douse the fires. Unfortunately, they'll keep buying those polluting jets that they're in love with so much," an individual snarked.

"Why is anyone surprised by anything this family does? This family does not care about anything but themselves. They are self-entitled and that is the bottom line. The moment people realize that the moment these families will disappear into the little dark corner they are in," another person remarked.

"Problem being she believes she is above all this and that her small additions to the climate problem won't make a difference. Shame on her, I wish personal jets were banned for celebrities as they are anything but celebrities in my mind if this is their approach, more like climate criminals as the article says," one more wrote.
