Lady Gaga's call to action for unity and community

Speaking about Trump's election victory, Lady Gaga shared, “The main thing is I have so much compassion and love for so many people that are afraid today."

“I prayed this wouldn’t happen. But here we are," she added.

Her comments come as the artist prepares for the release of her highly anticipated seventh album, 'Mayhem', due on March 7.

While she admitted she had not anticipated the political landscape aligning with her work, she noted the album’s themes of resilience and chaos feel eerily timely.

“I wrote this album with a labor of love, and it feels like a reflection of everything we’re facing,” she said.

“Maybe we can make friends with our realities instead of running all the time,” she added.

Gaga emphasized the importance of unity and community in the face of adversity.

“For a lot of people, this election was devastating for their existence. This reminds me that we need each other, and supporting each other is important," she said.

"I am one of many people that supports the LGBTQIA+ and other marginalized communities. And we’re not going down without a fight,” Gaga added.

The singer reflected on her approach to advocacy, highlighting the value of grassroots efforts and personal connection.

“Reaching out to people I love, being available, and understanding that what I’m going through is very different from so many people I care about has been important,” she explained.

Gaga also discussed the dual power of public and private actions.

“What you say publicly from a big microphone is sometimes just as powerful as what you say in private,” she noted.

“Who you are in the public eye should align with who you are when no one’s watching,” she shared.

As an artist, Gaga has long used her platform to champion social justice.

In 2021, she performed at former President Joe Biden’s inauguration, an event she described as one of the proudest moments of her career.

She joined former Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally in 2024, urging Americans to vote and emphasizing the importance of women’s voices in shaping the nation’s future.

2024 presidential election results and response

Trump’s victory, securing both the electoral college and popular vote with 71.2 million votes to Harris’ 66.4 million, was bolstered by wins in critical swing states.

Gaga acknowledged the emotional toll the election has taken on many, particularly within marginalized communities, and reiterated her commitment to advocating for justice.

“This just reminds me that we need to support each other more than ever,” she said.
